MultiVersusgame director Tony Huynh has responded to fan requests to see Master Chief from theHalofranchise added to the crossover fighting game.MultiVersusis aSuper Smash Bros.-style fighting game that features a diverse roster of playable characters. The characters are primarily pulled from franchises that are owned by Warner Bros. or its affiliated companies, ranging from DC Comics' Batman toScooby-Doo’s Shaggy Rogers.
Since launch,MultiVersushas added three additional characters to its roster in the form of Gizmo fromGremlinsand Rick and Morty from the adult animated series of the same name. As of the time of this writing, there are two morecharacters confirmed to be coming toMultiVersusin Season 1: Black Adam from DC Comics and Stripe fromGremlins. While they wait for official character announcements,MultiVersusfans have been creating their own concepts and move kits for hypothetical character additions. Twitter user Nosy Boy created one such concept forHalo’s Master Chief, providing a video to describe how they would incorporate the character into the game. The video caught the attention ofMultiVersusgame director Tony Huynh, who responded by saying, “Thanks for this. No promises.” This seems to suggest that the team would consider Master Chief if the opportunity arose, but there is no guarantee he would ever actually be added to the roster.
Fans have been calling for Master Chief to come toSuper Smash Bros.for years. There was some hope that would happen in the wake of friendly relations between Microsoft and Nintendo, but all theSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatecharacters are out andMaster Chiefis nowhere in sight. Master Chief has appeared as a crossover character in other games before, though, like theFortnitebattle royale, so there’s still some hope.
Master Chief may never make it toSuper Smash Bros., butMultiVersuswould be the next best thing. While fans wouldn’t get to see Master Chief duke it out with many gaming characters, it would lead to interesting interactions between the famous space marine and characters like Super,Finn fromAdventure Time, and Bugs Bunny.
Master Chief isn’t the only unlikely character that fans have asked to see added toMultiVersus. One character that has topped many lists isWalter White fromBreaking Bad, though it seems like a long shot that he will make it to the game either.
MultiVersusis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
