With recent episodes and chapters, theMy Hero Academiaseries has gotten more brutal in killing off heroes. The sixth season of the series particularly featured a lot of hero deaths, but the worst is yet to come. Throughout the series, lots of heroes have died. Some have died without knowing what was going on, while others have taken control of their deaths by making sacrifices that ensure other heroes live on.
These sacrifices vary in intensity and impact, but each one is undoubtedly a moment in which the heroes ofMy Hero Academiademonstrate their ability to protect others and pass on the torch. Interestingly, it seems that not only heroes can make such sacrifices.
7Mr. Compress’ Defiance In The Face Of Capture
A Villain Makes A Heroic Sacrifice
Even villains are capable of heroic feats when theirvillain friends are on the line. For Mr. Compress, he had to choose between giving his life or allowing the League of Villains to be captured during the latter parts of the Paranormal Liberation War arc.
After all members of the League of Villains were captured due to Best Jeanist’s sudden return, they had little hope of escape, particularly with Tomura Shigaraki being out of commission. However, after Mr. Compress revealed his backstory and quirk, he began using his quirk to mutilate his body to free Best Jeanist’s ropes and escape his binding. With that, he was able to ensure the league survived and escaped.
6Toga Saves Uraraka At Her Own Expense
A Rivalry Ends In Sacrifice
Throughout theMy Hero Academiaseries, Himiko Togaserved as Uraraka’s rivalin love and in ability. The duo faced each other many times, and their battle finally came to an end in a way that not many expected. Himiko has always been more of a circumstantial villain due to her quirk and the way society shunned it.
During the final war, Uraraka understood and saw Himiko’s inner beauty, accepting her. With Uraraka on her last legs, Himiko deigned to use her quirk to save her bygiving her a blood transfusionat the cost of her own life, as she was also severely weakened.
5Nana Shimura Sacrificed Herself For Her Predecessor
A Legacy Of Sacrifice And Heroism
While anime-only watchers know that Nana Shimura is the 7th holder of One For All, most of her backstory and how she died remain a mystery. However, fans who are caught up with the manga recognize that Nana Shimura’s last stand against All For One was a heroic sacrifice.
To ensure All Might and Gran Torino lived, Nana Shimura didn’t run away from All For One to extend her life but instead decided to face him. Although she eventually died, her sacrifice wasn’t in vain, as All Might was able to escape to America with One For All, where he met friends who continue to help him to this day.
4Bakugo Saves Deku From The Rivet Stab Quirk
Bakugo Proves He Can Give His Life For Deku
Although Bakugo was the one with the quirk right from their childhood, Midoriya was the one always doing the saving. During the latter parts of theParanormal Liberation War arc, Deku was the only one who could keep Shigaraki at bay, and he did it in the air.
Unfortunately, in a moment of weakness for Deku, Shigaraki launched the Rivet Stab quirk at him, but before anyone knew what was going on, Bakugo launched Deku out of the way and took on the attack. With this sacrifice of his, Bakugo proved to Deku that he wasn’t the only one capable of sacrificing himself for others.
3Mirio Saves Eri From A Quirk-Destroying Bullet
Sacrifices His Own Quirk To Protect Eri
The quirk-destroying bullets developed by Overhaul served as a nuisance to heroes through their distribution and creation. During the battle against Overhaul, Mirio Togata (with the hero name – Lemillion) put up a good fight.
Seeing Lemillion overpower him, Overhaul decided to target Eri, a young child whose body and quirk he used to make the bullets. However, being the type of hero that he is, Lemillion uses his body to shield her, fully aware that he will lose his quirk. Even after getting shot and sacrificing his quirk for Eri, Lemillion continued to fight against Overhaul, showing his dedication to being a hero for others.
2Aizawa Cuts Off His Leg To Put Shigaraki At Bay
Aizawa’s Unwavering Resolve Is Proved Through Sacrifice
Shortly after Tomura Shigaraki and Eraser Head met, the villain always kept Shota Aizawa in great esteem, calling him a ‘cool hero.’ Aizawa proved his determination, dedication, and ‘coolness’ duringthe Paranormal Liberation War arc.
For most of the war, Aizawa used his quirk to stop Shigaraki from decaying everything around him. However, to free himself from Aizawa’s shackles, Shigaraki shot a quirk-destroying bullet into Aizawa’s leg. However, without a shred of hesitation, Aizawa cut off his leg so he could keep his quirk and keep Shigaraki at bay. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out as planned, but the scene of Aizawa’s leg leaving his body will forever be remembered as one ofMy Hero Academia’s most impactful moments.
1Edgeshot Prevents Bakugo’s Death
Edgeshot Sacrifices His Life For The New Generation
Right from the Forest Training Camp arc, Shigaraki and Bakugo always had some sort of tussle between them, and during the final battle against the heroes, Shigaraki sought to end their fight for good. In the final battle against Shigaraki and All For One, Bakugo, Edgeshot, Best Jeanist, and some other heroesserved as UA’s protectors.
For Shigaraki, who had always sought to emotionally handicap Deku, killing Bakugo was a good choice, and when he had the chance, he ripped the young hero’s heart into shreds. Without a doubt, this was the momentBakugo was set to die; however, with the old generation of heroes paving the way for the new generation, Edgeshot made a bet on Bakugo and decided to sacrifice his life by using his Foldabody quirk to enter Bakugo’s organs and stitch them together, ultimately allowing Bakugo to live.
