It’s a big weekend forMortal Kombat 11fans. Not only will the first Spawn gameplay be revealed today, but today is theFinal Kombat fighting game tournamentevent. Plus, anyone that has yet to playMortal Kombat 11and is wondering what all the fuss is about has a chance to play the game for free.
Until March 9,Mortal Kombat 11is free to play on both PS4 and Xbox One. Those that participate in theMortal Kombat 11free trial can try the entirety of the game without paying a dime, in addition to some of its DLC. That’s because Warner Bros. Interactive has made The Joker DLC free as part of the trial as well. Unfortunately for those on PC, Switch, and Google Stadia, it appears as though their platform of choice is left out of the free trial lineup.

MakingThe Jokerfree to play for a limited time seems like a good way to convince players to not just pick upMortal Kombat 11, but its Kombat Pack as well. For the uninitiated, theMortal Kombat 11Kombat Pack is the game’s equivalent to a season pass, adding six more characters to the base game’s already-impressive roster of fighters. The Joker is joined by Night Wolf, The Terminator, Sindel, Shang Tsung, and Spawn.
It’s possible that NetherRealm will develop a second Kombat Pack after Spawn is added later this month. Rumors and supposed “leaks” have certainly pointed in that direction, with a number of characters rumored for theMortal Kombat 11Kombat Pack 2.
One of the most commonly cited guest characters rumored forMortal Kombat 11Kombat Pack is Ash fromEvil Dead. Other characters have been rumored as well, including Fujin, Sheeva, Takeda, Havik, and evenHalloween’s Michael Myers. But since NetherRealm has so far refrained from committing to a Kombat Pack 2, there’s nothing really backing these rumors up at this point in time.
AfterMortal Kombat 11adds theSpawn DLCto the game on March 17, NetherRealm may be more open about the game’s future or what’s next from the studio if it’s not making moreMK11content. We’ll find out in a couple of weeks time.
Mortal Kombat 11is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
