In just a couple of weeks,Mortal Kombat 11 fanswill be able to check out the Aftermath expansion in all its glory. It seems to pick up where the gory fighting game ended (or at least one of its endings) and brings the Kombat Pack 1 DLC characters, such as Nightwolf and Sindel, into the fold. Players will be stealing Kronika’s Crown at the behest of Shang Tsung, a strange move to say the least, to avoid “dooming” the future.
Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermathalso brings with it three new DLC characters in the form ofFujin, Sheeva, and RoboCop, so while theprice ofMortal Kombat 11’s expansionmay seem a little steep, it may just prove to be well worth it. After all, there’s an extra treat for PS4 players.

Purchasing the Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath expansion on PS4 means players will be able to get their hands on the below dynamic theme. In it, players see the newly-dubbed Fire God Liu Kang wielding flames in his hand, while Thunder God Raiden wields electricity. It’s an impressive visual nonetheless and perhaps a must-have for bigMortal Kombat 11fans.
It’s interesting to see Liu Kang and Raiden both in God forms side by side. Aftermath builds off the ending of the game where, once separated, Liu Kang retains his Godhood and Raiden becomes mortal. While it may not be a forwarding-looking theme, it seems likely that it just falls under the “rule of cool.” After all, if this were to suggest that Raiden could get his Godhood back come the Aftermath Expansion, it would undermine the Liu Kang vs. Raiden dynamic highlighted throughout thestory ofMortal Kombat 11.
In the end, what happens in the Aftermath Expansion remains to be seen, but it’ll likely be interesting. It seems that strange alliances are being formed in Sindel and Nightwolf working side by side (perhaps different versions), and Shang Tsung working alongside Raiden and Liu Kang. The trailer suggests he’s not to be trusted, but ultimately, fans will need to wait forMK11Aftermath’s release dateof May 26 to find out.
Mortal Kombat 11is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
