Minecraftplayers have always hada copious amount of items to smelt in Furnaces, but never want to wait for all of them to cook. For this reason, players spend tons of resources on making massive “super smelters” that can cook tons of items in only a few minutes. Unfortunately, the material cost of a Super Smelteris the main reason some players could get scared away from making them. However, there is a very basic version that will get the job done, and it only costs:

The Basic Smelter

This basic version will smelt items without taking them out of the furnace, allowing players to do other things while waiting on their cooked items. It also smelts two stacks at once. This basic version startsby placing a double cheston top of two hoppers leading directlyinto the tops of two furnaces. This chest is where the raw materials to be smelted will go and can store many of them.

Then, place hoppers on the side of the furnace, either on the back or front, making sure the hopper is leading into them. Finally, place another double chest on top. This chest is where fuel for the furnaces goes; coal or coal blocks is highly recommended since they burn for a long time and don’t need to be removed from the furnace afterward, like Lava Buckets.

Then place two hoppers at the bottoms of these furnaces, leading into a chest. This chest is where the smelted items will be stored. This simple system is enough for most players, given it can hold many stacks of items and smelt them while players go and do other things. However, some players need something bigger and better.

How to make a Super Smelter

In concept, the super smelter is similar to the smaller one, just massive.Minecraftplayers should start byplacing a long line of Furnaces 2 blocks off the ground. This line can be up to 15 blocks, but 12 is recommended. Place hoppers on top and in front of these furnaces, like before, with a line of building blocks underneath them.

Placepowered rails atop the hoppersand the line of blocks underneath, ensuring the rails don’t connect and create a slope, but instead make a straight line across the furnaces. These rails can be powered by a single Redstone block placed directly above the lower set of rails, with the bottom set powered by a lever. Now the rails should be extended out by two blocks on all sides, with the bottom having hoppers leading into a chest on the bottom.

Next, put blocks on either end, so the rails end by hitting a block. Chests should be placed directly above the rails on the left side, with a lever on the leftmost block and a piece of Redstone behind that lever. The Redstone block and lever should now be shifted to the right so the first two powered rails on the left remain unpowered. A lever should also be placed on the bottommost left block to power the bottom rails.

Players can now place 3 Minecarts with Hoppers on the unpowered part of the rails, flicking the levers to power them whenever they want the machine to turn on. The chests are set up exactly like the previous design: raw items on top, fuel in the middle, and cooked products on the bottom.

The furnaces in either design can be replaced with Smokers ora Blast Furnace if the player desiresmore food or ores. This machine is powerful enough to smelt hundreds of items within seconds, and can be replicated and expanded.
