With how popularMinecraftstreams are right now, it’s only logical that for every amazing triumph a streamer accomplishes, another one will have an epic fail. Such is the case for streamer Gisthekey, who recently lost everything after dying to a Creeper in his 500 hour hardcore survival world.Minecraftis 11 years old, but Creepers still manage to get the best of even seasoned players.

In Hardcore mode, if the player dies, they can’t respawn and their world is automatically deleted. This is obviously a very risky way to playMinecraft, as one small mistake can mean the end of all the hard work players have put into their world. Nevertheless, it encourages a much more cautious gameplay style and forces players to be constantly aware.

Luckily, thismost epic of livestream failswas captured on video, so fans will be able to relive the moment as much as they want. Gisthekey takes the death in stride, however, laughing it off as he likely looks forward to the next world he’ll get to build.

For background, it appears that Gisthekey was attempting to make a zoo of sorts in the basement of his house. In isolated cells, he would capture and display differentMinecraftmobs, but of course things went south when it came to the Creeper. Capturing a regular Creeper would prove too easy, so Gisthekey decided to get acharged Creeperas well. Using a Trident enchanted with Channeling, Gisthekey successfully charges the Creeper and even heals it with a splash potion of healing before accidentally falling in with it.

At this point, he was stuck in a glass box with a charged Creeper without any form of protection and no escape route, so the rest should be easy to guess. Many in the comments point out that had he carried a shield with him he may have been able to survive the blast, or that if hemade use of a totem of undyinghe wouldn’t have lost his world, but hindsight is 20/20. Gisthekey is speechless at first, and then breaks out into laughter about the unfortunate fate of his world.

It’s good to see him take it so well, as others may have been far more heartbroken to have lost something which they put so much time into. More likely than not, the promise of a new world with new possibilities is what helped Gisthekey take the bad news so well. Even so, it’s a grim reminder that there are nosecond chances in hardcore modeMinecraft.
