Sporting a vibrant and colorful 16-bit pixel art style,Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewindlooks suitably frenetic, especially when all five co-op players are on-screen at once, and even more so when the game starts switching genres seemingly partway through a mission.

Every Genre That Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind Is Embracing

Beat ‘Em Up

Focusing on the very original iteration of the iconic spandex-wearing team,Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewindwill see players take control ofthe Pink, Red, Yellow, Blue, and Black Rangeras they face off against the titular villain once more. However, this time Rita Repulsa has been joined by a robotic future incarnation, and the two are wreaking havoc on the timeline, something that will cause classic enemies from the first few seasons of the show to appear and will cause remixed versions of iconic sequences.

Based onPower Rangers: Rita’s Rewind’s announcement trailer, it seems as though a good portion of the game will have players punching and kicking their way through a classic arcade beat ‘em up. Iconic enemies will flood the screen, and it’s up to the five Rangers to take all of them down before moving on to the next screen. But that’s not allPower Rangers: Rita’s Rewindhas in store.

Based on the trailer, there will be certain sections of gameplay inPower Rangers: Rita’s Rewindthat will see players shooting at the enemies on-screen while the camera moves forward through the stage automatically. Players will also be able to control the beloved original version of the Megazord, which seemingly turns the game into a first-person brawler.

Combat Racer

The final genre thatMighty Morphin' Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewindseems to be tackling is old-school combat racing. Here, players take control of a Ranger on a motorbike or Dinozord as they speed towards the screen’s background. Players will be able to move the vehicle horizontally across the screen to avoid oncoming projectiles and environmental hazards, as well as shoot at enemies that happen to line up with the on-screen crosshair.
