After rumors began swirling earlier in the week, Iron Galaxy Studios and Epic Games confirmed that the wrestling inspired battle royale titleRumbleverseis shutting down very soon. The news no doubt disappointed fans of the unique online title as it was very well recieved and even regarded asone of the best multiplayer games of 2022.Rumbleversetook the classic battle royale formula and added its own wrinkles by using a wrestling inspired melee system for special moves and basic attacks as well as featuring highly stylized graphics. However, the battle royale genre is highly competitive with mainstays likeApex Legends,Fortnite, andCall of Duty: Warzone 2dominating player attention spans, making it highly difficult for new games to both compete and succeed over a sustained period of time.Rumbleverseoriginally launched in August 2022and found a lot of success at first thanks to its unique take on the genre, and while the game made it to season 2, it apparently could no longer sustain the player population needed to continue.RELATED:Iron Galaxy Studios Hires David ‘DeeJ’ Dague as Head of CommunicationIn a post on the official website, Iron Galaxy confirmed that Season Two will be the last one forRumbleverseand the servers will be taken offline on Tuesday, August 05, 2025 at 9am ET. Considering thatRumbleverseis an online only experience, the game will become completely unplayable at that time. The final update for the game was also released on January 31 and while it included various bug fixes and balance changes, it also unlocked all content, enabled double XP, and made every game mode available to play.
This final update also unlocked the Battle Pass free for all players and closed down the in-game store and ability to purchase Brawlla Bills premium currency. For players who spent any money on the title since it launched in full, Iron Galaxy has confirmed that these individuals will be eligible for a full refund. Details will be shared soon on a seperate FAQ page, soRumbleverseplayers who want their money back will want to keep an eye out for that.
In addition to the news, Iron Galaxy thanked players who gave Rumbleverse a fair shot and gave fans a small glimpse at the studio’s future plans. The studio remains hopeful that this isn’t the last time players see Grapital City in some form, the studio has promised to keep making games that bring people together to share meaningful experiences. While there are plenty who are disappointed in Rumbleverse closing down, there are also more than a few that are hopingIron Galaxy is now free to return to Microsoft’sKiller Instinctfranchise, a series it helped revive during the Xbox One era to great effect.
Rumbleverseis now available for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S until June 03, 2025.
