Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Orderofficially launches tomorrow, June 19, but with the start of the San Diego Comic Convention Marvel is ready to start talking about post-launch content. During Marvel’s SDCC video game panel, the first official DLC forMarvel Ultimate Alliance 3was revealed. Available starting August 30 will beMarvel Ultimate Alliance 3’s next X-Men heroes, Cyclops and Colossus, and they’ll both be entirely free to download.
Cyclops and Colossus are not the firstX-Men on theMarvel Ultimate Alliance 3roster. That distinction goes to Wolverine, Psylocke, Storm, and Magneto, though Scarlet Witch, Deadpool, and even Captain Marvel would fit the description, too. Both Cyclops and Colossus have a history with the franchise going back to the originalUltimate Alliance, so their return is certain to be welcome among fans of the franchise.
The addition of the two mutants won’t be the end of free DLC inMarvel Ultimate Alliance 3, either. Marvel also confirmed that it would be rolling out free alternate costumes for playable characters. This free costume DLC won’t be available immediately but will be released piecemeal between launch and early 2020.
Cyclops and Colossus joining the roster, as well as the new about the free alternate costumes, doesn’t necessarily mean there won’t be any more free content forMarvel Ultimate Alliance 3. It just means Marvel isn’t ready to make any announcements. In fact, dataminers have already discovered four additional characters on theMarvel Ultimate Alliance 3disc. Black Bolt, Meduse, Vision, and Valkyrie could be given out at any point in the future.
Marvel had plenty of otherMarvel Ultimate Alliance 3announcements to make during the panel, too. While Cyclops and Colossus will be the first characters released post-launch, the last character to be unlocked for official launch will be Loki. They are the final of36 playable characters on the rosteravailable in-game for players to unlock.
The Marvel panel also talked aboutMarvel Ultimate Alliance 3’s upcoming DLC plans, reconfirming specific details that have already been revealed. The$19.99 Expansion Passwill include three DLC packs with four characters and new story-related content apiece. The Expansion Pass will pull from three Marvel brands specifically, the X-Men, Marvel Knights, and the Fantastic Four. The first four DLC characters have already been confirmed and will be Moon Knight, Blade, Punisher, and Morbius. Expect details on the remaining two DLC packs soon.
