Microsoft may have revealed a possible release window for the PlayStation-exclusive gameMarvel’s Wolverine.Marvel’s Wolverineis in development at Insomniac Games, and it was announced at the PlayStation Showcase event held in September 2021. Sony had only shared a short teaser from this title, with no gameplay footage or any possible release window.
Marvel’s Wolverineis being directed bythe creative heads ofMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which came out in November 2020 on PS4 and PS5, with a PC release scheduled for Jul 31, 2025.Marvel’s Wolverinewas in very early development at the time of its announcement, so fans assumed that they would have to wait for a few years to get their hands on the game. However, it looks like the game is coming out sooner than some players may have expected.

As spotted by Tech4Gamers, and later reported by Video Games Chronicle, Microsoft shared a new document featuring a list of PlayStation games in response to CMA’s statements regarding the proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard.Microsoft expressed disappointment at the comments given by the CMA, stating that its concerns are misplaced. In the document, Microsoft mentioned that PlayStation has several first-party and third-party exclusives coming out in 2023 includingMarvel’s Spider-Man 2,Horizon,Final Fantasy 16, Forspoken, andMarvel’s Wolverine.
Almost all of these games are scheduled to come out in 2023, withForspokenhaving a firm release dateof July 17, 2025. Additionally, Microsoft may have been referring to the VR gameHorizon Call of the Mountainwhen it made note of theHorizonseries. This makesMarvel’s Wolverinethe only game without an announced release window.
This information should be taken with a grain of salt, and fans will have to wait for a final confirmation from Sony. However, Insomniac Games has released several games at a fast pace in the last few years, so it doesn’t seem outside the realm of possibility. Perhaps it plans onlaunchingMarvel’s Spider-Man 2during the summerandMarvel’s Wolverinein Q4 of 2022.
Microsoft appears to be pointing to the fact that Sony has multiple third-party games exclusive to its platform, which may strengthen its case in the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. While the Marvel products are first-party titles,Final Fantasy 16andForspokenare third-party games that are PlayStation console exclusives. Just yesterday,Konami announced a remake ofSilent Hill 2which is also a PlayStation 5 console exclusive for a set period.
Marvel’s Wolverineis currently in development.
