Warning: Spoilers ahead for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.Not only is it a great game in its own right, butMarvel’s Spider-Man 2sets up an interesting future for the franchise. Miles Morales is positioned as the main Spider-Man for the series going forward, and he seems poised to mentor another webslinger in the form of Cindy Moon, AKA Silk. The return of Doc Ock and debut ofGreen Goblinwill give the two young heroes, and presumably Peter Parker, some major threats to deal with. Speaking of Peter, Insomniac not only leaves him in a happy place with MJ, but it also keeps the Anti-Venom suit in his possession - something that a DLC could tackle.
Currently, it is unclear what Insomniac Games has planned for the Anti-Venom suit. On one hand, it makes Peter Parker significantly more fun to play, which is essential given how enjoyable Miles Morales’ skillset is. However, losing the stunning Advanced Suit would be a shame, especially ifMarvel’s Spider-Man 3truly is the “Final Chapter,” as it makes sense for Peter to be back in red and blue for his last adventure. Fortunately, Insomniac has an opportunity to write the Anti-Venom suit out of the story beforeMarvel’s Spider-Man 3, assuming that DLC is released forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Could Remove The Anti-Venom Suit From Peter in DLC
A Conflict With Carnage Could Force Peter To Give Up The Anti-Venom Suit
The most obvious way for Peter to shed the Anti-Venom suit is in a conflict with Carnage. Instead of trying to squeeze Carnage intoMarvel’s Spider-Man 3, which is already set to feature Peter Parker’s two greatest foes, making him the main focus of a DLC could give his story a chance to breathe. Plus, Insomniac Games already has Symbiote tech designed forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, so a DLC focusing on Carnage would be a good way to get more use out of it. Just likeThe City That Never Sleeps DLCreused assets from Sable International’s mercenaries, a Carnage DLC could feature red versions of the basic Symbiote enemy types from the main game.
Throughout the DLC, Peter could mention how the Anti-Venom suit is weakening each time he uses it to remove theCarnage Symbiotefrom Cletus Kassidy’s cultists, citing how the truly evil parasite is more challenging to burn through. In the final fight with Carnage, Peter could spend the last of the Anti-Venom’s energy destroying the red Symbiote, with all traces of Anti-Venom removed from Peter’s system once he defeats Carnage. This way, he could return to his classic look in the final game without players worrying about potential plot holes like Peter simply forgetting he has the Anti-Venom suit when he could be using it to make himself stronger.

While there have been some clever suggestions for how Peter could keep access to the Anti-Venom Symbiote, like the white on his costume housing the white goo instead of just being an accent, it could be nice to return to a more grounded costume inMarvel’s Spider-Man 3. After all, there is a sizable part of the fan base that prefers whenPeter Parkeruses only simple tech and his normal abilities.
Peter Could Pass The Anti-Venom Suit To Harry
However, there is a way to write out the Anti-Venom suit without destroying it in Peter’s clash with Carnage, and that is through Harry Osborn. Just like Harry gave Peter the original Symbiote, Peter could pass it back on to Harry, having learned that the Anti-Venom version does not make the host lose control of themselves after wearing it for so long. This would not only free up Peter to return to his classic look and heal his friend Harry, but it could allow Harry to become Anti-Venom as well. As Anti-Venom, he could lead his ownMarvel’s Spider-Manspin-off game, becoming a hero in his own right and redeeming himself for his actions inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2. While a traditional Venom game would be hard to sell given Insomniac’s take on the character, Anti-Venom could work perfectly in a leading role.
