Firaxis Games reveals a 10-minute gameplay showcase for the Hunter inMarvel’s Midnight Suns. The Hunter is the tactial-RPG’s protagonist, a superhero that has never been seen before in Marvel comics and acts more as the player’s own creation. The Hunter inMarvel’s Midnight Sunscan be customized, both in their appearance and the abilities they use to take down the demons of Lilith. Also, they’re directly connected to the game’s story and its antagonist. The Hunter is the child of Lilith and once defeated her, but is now being resurrected alongside their mother in order to fight again.

The Hunter’s gameplay reveal marks the eighth hero to be given a full showcase forMarvel’s Midnight Suns. Previously, other more established Marvel superheroes have been givenMarvel’s Midnight Sunsgameplay reveals like Scarlet Witchand Wolverine. However, towards the start of the YouTube video showing off the Hunter’s gameplay, it is stated that their reveal is the most important so far. Considering the Hunter acts as the protagonist forMarvel’s Midnight Suns, it makes sense that Firaxis would consider the showcasing of this hero to be an important one.

It also proves to be one of the longer gameplay showcases forMarvel’s Midnight Suns, running nearly 11 minutes, while other reveals for Doctor Strange, Wolverine, and the Scarlet Witch have been around half that time. Of course, with the Hunter’s customization, they have more abilities than any other character on the roster, something that is made clear immediately in the new footage. The Hunter will have three ability branches inMarvel’s Midnight Suns: Power, Light, and Dark, with each offering different abilities.

The Light branch, for example, gives players potent healing abilities, while the Power branch amplifies the damage they deal. Players can mix and match abilities from all three branches to make their own style of play as well. In total, there are 30 differentcards inMarvel’s Midnight Sunsdedicated to the Hunter, with 10 being from each branch of abilities. After introducing fans to most of the basic cards the Hunter can use, they then get a look at the legendary abilities of the Hunter.

There are three legendary cards for theHunter inMarvel’s Midnight Suns. The first, for the Power branch, does big AoE damage while knocking back enemies caught in the attack. It seems this is best paired with a hero like Spider-Man, who can bunch enemies up to make the attack even more devastating. For Light, the legendary ability summons a demonic dog under the player’s control. Finally, the Dark legendary card is called Annihilation, and it is another AoE attack that deals damage based on the amount of heroism the player has.
