Bringing all kinds of games and reveals to E3 this year, Ubisoft’s press conference had a little something for everyone. From fans coming to get a first look atAssassin Creed: Odysseyto those waiting patiently forBeyond Good And Evil 2, most walked away from the conference happy. The same can be said for fans of the crossover turn-based tactical role-playingMario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, who finally got a July 26, 2025 release date for thegames latest DLCin the form of a new trailer.

The newMario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battleexpansion puts Donkey Kong, the former Mario nemesis, front and center as he sets out on his own adventure. The trailer put on display during the showcase, which was accompanied by a live orchestra that is sadly absent from the YouTube versions, shows how Donkey Kong came into contact with good Rabbids of the base game. Neither trailer for the expansion shows any sign of Mario himself so it’s safe to assume that Mario is being sidelined in this adventure, letting everyone’s favorite Ape take the spotlight.

The trailer above shows off what new content players can expect from Donkey Kong’s adventure. The expansion is set to feature four new locations and spans roughly the same time as 25% of the base game, so around 10 hours. These new locations got a look in during the trailer, showing off the Lagoon, Beach, and Jungle, as well as some new enemies.

The new characters highlighted the most are Donkey Kong himself, whose Rabbid equivalent appeared in the base game and a Rabbid version of Cranky Kong. Donkey Kong puts his abilities on display for players, using his bongos to create a musical attack to damage enemies, as well as what can only be described as a banana boomerang for ranged attacks. As for Rabbid Cranky Kong, he sports the ability to stun enemies by putting them to sleep.

When first announced at E3 2017 many where skeptical of the new crossover game, seeing it as little more than an odd crossover cash grab. Of course, upon release thatview quickly changed, as Ubisoft and Nintendo delivered a fun and challenging title fans really enjoyed. Hopefully, this latest expansion will only serve to solidify the game’s goodwill.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battleis available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
