While the fallout from the cancellation of the HBO MaxBatgirlmovie continues, it appears that there are some among the DC Cinematic Universe who want to keep Leslie Grace on their roster of active actors. To that end, there are new reports that while Grace has lost herBatgirlmovie role, there is a chance the character could show up in another project, or she could be recast in another role.

Grace firstlanded the role ofBatgirllast summer and it seemed to be full speed ahead for both her and her new movie on HBO Max from there. Then the leadership of the network changed hands and suddenly there were a number of different projects that were in jeopardy. It took almost no time at all for the HBO Max movie, which was also going to feature a cameo by Michael Keaton reprising his version of Bruce Wayne/Batman, to go from being in danger to being officially cancelled, despite the level of shock and disappointment by all involved in the project.

Grace has made it very clear that she isn’t happy thatall her work onBatgirlhas gone for naught. According toVariety, Warner Bros. Pictures Group chiefs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy are not happy that their star is not happy and there have been some efforts to mend fences. Those efforts have been described by some sources as the leadership team looking for other projects that Grace could star in, or other projects that could see Grace’s Batgirl make an appearance. It’s important to note that while De Luca and Abdy are interested in keeping Grace happy after theBatgirlcancellation, they may not have the final say in that sort of maneuver.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is still on the lookout for who will oversee future DC projects. There is talk that he’s looking for someone who will basically be the DC Cinematic Universe version of Kevin Feige. Just whetherGrace puts on the cape and cowl of Batgirlagain is going to depend quite a bit on just who gets tapped to do that job. There is also an open question as to whether Michael Keaton’s return to the role of Bruce Wayne is now officially a thing of the past.

For now, Grace and Keaton are still dealing with the aftermath of seeing aBatgirlproject they had been working on for quite a while suddenly get shelved. Then they’ll have to decide if they have any interest in taking on differentparts in other DC projects.
