The current season ofFortnitehas been one of its most popular yet. However, withGalactus looming on the horizon and an end date set, the season is undeniably entering its final days.
With the Marvel crossover coming to a close, many are wondering what the future ofFortnitewill hold. The Marvel crossover ran away with the game and without it, a large part ofFortnite’s identity may change. Epic will have to introduce new elements to try and measure up, but it may also be re-adding some old content. One of the most prominent examples are the launch pads, which could be making a reappearance.

The launch pads were first introduced back in 2017, and stuck around for a long time. As the name suggests, launch pads launch players up into the air for handy getaways or sudden ambushes. In this way they’re a bit similar tothe rifts, which made their return recently. The news of the launch pads' return comes from dataminingFortnite’s files, so they’re definitely back, but this does not reveal when or how they are returning to the game.
As of the article, it’s unknown whether or not launch pads will be returning as a semi-permanent portion of the main game. They were not well received by everyone, so arguments could be made either way for or against their reintroduction. Of course, it’s entirely possible they will not be featured in the main game again right away. Perhaps the new pads will first grace therevampedFortniteCreative mode. Players complained at the start of the year that the launch pads began to work differently in Creative. Maybe this will set them right, or perhaps change them completely.
It’s also worth noting that even after Galactus, the Marvel crossovers will likely continue at least a little bit. This will probably be less frequent, but still present. It will be interesting to see how these two elements interact. After all, it’s not often players get to seeMan-Thingflying through the air.
As fun as this has the potential to be, some players will probably not be thrilled by the launch pads' return. Plus, there are other features players no doubt want more than launch pads. Many would no doubt prefer the return of the old"double movement" trick, but this is unlikely to happen anytime soon.
