SinceInjustice 2’s launch last week, the NetherRealm Studios fighting game has been given a plethora ofpositive reviewsfor its engrossing story mode, fluid and intuitive combat mechanics, as well as its extensive roster of heroes and villains from the DC Universe. Speaking of the lattermost gameplay element, the developer is far from finished adding new characters, as the game’s creative director Ed Boon recently reminded fans of Red Hood’s inclusion by way of a fresh screenshot.
As seen in the tweet below from Ed Boon’s personal Twitter account, Red Hood can be found delivering a flurry of bullet blasts to an opponent inInjustice 2while laying prone on his back. To further entice fans looking forward to playing as Jason Todd’s alter ego in the fighting game, Boon wrote that the lethal vigilante is “coming soon,” stopping short at revealing an exact date as to when he gets included as an add-on.
For those unaware, Red Hood was revealed alongside the likes ofStarfire and Sub-Zeroas the first round of DLC forInjustice 2with the game’s first Fighter Pack. The characters were depicted in a unique trailer involving the three clashing in a dimly lit underground arena of sorts, but unfortunately, the clip didn’t divulge exactly when fans should expect them to be incorporated into the title through the expansion pack.
As far as other DC characters on the horizon are concerned, Ed Boon is remaining rather tight-lipped about who will or won’t make the cut. However, it’s quite possible that other fighters in the vein of Red Hood’s demeanor –Watchmenantiheroes like Rorschach, for instance – could very well still be in the cards.
Should NetherRealm Studios continue to provide the kinds of characters that fans want forInjustice 2, it certainly stands to reason that the game will persist with strong sales well into the future. With the title having already debuted at the top of the UK sales charts within its first week of availability thanks to its compelling plot and wide-ranging roster from which to choose, NetherRealm would do well to stick to the formula of appeasing its fans with content that they desire in order to keep the momentum going.
Injustice 2is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
