Life on Earth may have been snuffed out followingthe irresponsible actions of Doctor Victor Aiza, but many of the planet’s most iconic landmarks were somehow able to survive. By finding certain items scattered throughout the game’s universe,Starfieldplayers will be able to visit some of these surviving structures, including the Shanghai Tower in China.

As is the case with many of the planet’s other landmarks, the Shanghai Tower has certainly seen better days. However, despite the city that once surrounded it having been consumed by dust and debris, the iconic tower still stands tall against an otherwise barren skyline, remindingStarfieldplayers what the world was like before humanity took to the stars.
How to Visit the Shanghai Tower (Shanghai Landmark)
Before they can visit the Shanghai Tower inStarfield, players will need to find a copy of a book calledEssentials of Modern Macroeconomics. Thankfully, players can accomplish this pretty easily by making their way to a planet called Porrima II in the Porrima star system, which is to the northeast of Volii onthe player’s star map.
Upon arriving in the planet’s orbit, players will find an unidentified ship, which turns out to be the ECS Constant.Docking with the Constantwill trigger the First Contact side quest, but players should ignore this for now. They’ll instead want to take the elevator up to the Residential Level and then take another one up tothe classroom. There, in front of the whiteboard, they’ll find a copy of Essentials of Modern Macroeconomics.

After picking up the book, players will unlock the Visit the Shanghai Landmark objective on Earth activity. Unfortunately, they won’t be able to fast travel out of the ECS Constant, and so will need to return to their ship and undock before they can chart a course for Earth. From there though, it’s a simple case of choosing the Shanghai Landmark landing site from the map screen.
The Shanghai Tower is pretty beaten up but is still easily visible from miles around, perhaps more so inStarfieldthan in the real world due to the emptiness that now surrounds it. Players can snap a few pictures of the towerusingStarfield’s Photo Modeif they like and will be able to find the Shanghai snow globe sitting on a rock near the base of the tower.

Starfieldis available now for PC and Xbox Series X|S.
