Summary
Fallout 5could add some significant upgrades to make one of the series' most iconic tools well worth the investment. While theFalloutgames have made a habit of exploring different areas of the wasteland, there are a few things that have become emblematic of the series. From the super mutants and ghouls to the enduring mascot Vault Boy, there are many things thatFalloutwould not be the same without. At the same time, upgrading what works helps make each game that much more exciting. In particular,Fallout 5could bring some of the greatest advancements yet.
With so manydangerous locations in theFalloutuniverse, players need all the advantages that they can get to survive. Thankfully, there are several options for players to defend themselves, from power fists to sniper rifles all the way up to mini-nuke launchers. The ability to deal damage to the wasteland’s threats isn’t the only key to surviving, though. Players also need solid armor in case an enemy manages to break through in a fight.

While players have several armor options, one has managed to become more iconic than any other. InFallout, few types of armor can outperform the mighty power armor.
Fallout 5 Can Upgrade Power Armor Further Than Ever Before
Power Armor is Iconic in Fallout, But Has an Opportunity to Improve
In the long history ofpower armor in theFalloutgames, it has consistently been the most imposing and, in most cases, powerful armor available to the player. While it does have its downsides, being incredibly heavy and, in the case ofFallout 4, requiring fusion cores to function, there’s something undeniably cool about donning a mechanized suit of armor like a high-tech knight. There’s a good reason whyFallout’s power armor gets so much focus, and the next game would do well to improve it further. That could take it from a popular armor set to a selling point forFallout 5.
An excellent direction that could be taken forFallout 5’s approach to power armoris a major increase in customization. To be fair,Fallout 76did a fantastic job when it came to increasing the selection of power armor available to the player. However, the next step forward should be more unique upgrades for different power armor parts. Past games already featured a jetpack accessory, so some newer options could include a built-in melee weapon for heavy damage at close range, wrist-mounted ballistic weapons, or deployable gadgets such as traps or shields. This would makeFallout 5’s new power armor sets a lot more interesting to play with.

Since players were already given the chance todesign their own power armor inFallout 4,Fallout 5could take that customization to the next level. With new, wilder parts with unique abilities, making a custom suit of power armor could be more exciting than ever before. Rather than simply building a strong, solid suit of armor, they could combine various abilities to make a world’s worth of combos. It could be like making a human-sized Gundam for the player. After all, power armor is an iconic part ofFallout, so making a uniquely powered set of armor would be a fantastic way to stand out in the wasteland.
Rather than simply marking strong enemies,Fallout 5can rework a staplein power armor to make it a primary selling point of the game. Not only fighting enemies with unique power armor combinations but scavenging strange and powerful parts to create a new scientific powerhouse. High-octane power armor battles would be one of the most exciting spectacles that could not only pushFallout’s technology forward but also turn an old favorite into the best part of the game. More powerful and outlandish power armor features could giveFallout 5a wild new take on one of the series' most iconic features.
