Activision and Infinity Ward often invite YouTubers to their studios to check out new content before it’s revealed to the public. This was the case forCall of Duty: Modern Warfarebefore it was properly unveiled, and it’s also the case for the recently announced Season 1 content. YouTuber Swagg is one such person who was invited to Infinity Ward to check out theCall of Duty: Modern WarfareSeason 1 content, and he also had the chance to talk to co-design director for multiplayer Joe Cecot, who revealed a lot of interesting tidbits about the game.
Swagg looked into some hot community topics during his Infinity Ward visit. He learned that Infinity Ward plans to keep tweaking the Dead Silence perk, that it’s looking into a tank nerf so that the vehicle isn’t so overpowered in Ground War, and that the studio is also taking a look atCall of Duty: Modern Warfare’s spawns. It was also revealed that there are no plans to add some fan-requested features, like map voting, as data has shown that players will simply leave lobbies if the map they voted for doesn’t get picked. It was suggested by those at the event that this problem could be solved with a Vote to Skip option, with Cecot saying that Infinity Ward will look into implementing such a feature.

Cecot also touched on theCall of Duty: Modern Warfaremini-map, which has consistently been a source of controversy ever since the game’s beta. TheCall of Duty: Modern Warfaremini-mapdoesn’t behave like it does in previous games, giving players more limited information. Unfortunately for those hoping forCall of Duty: Modern Warfareto bring back the old style of mini-map, Cecot said that there are no plans to do so, as they want UAVs to be more rewarding.
One feature thatCall of Duty: Modern Warfarefans have been wanting to see is the ability to stay in the same lobby after matches. As it turns out, this is something that could become a reality in the game. Apparently,Infinity Wardintended forCall of Duty: Modern Warfareplayers to be able to stay in the same lobby for a few games before it would reset, but the studio was unable to implement this at launch.
Something that Cecot wouldn’t talk about isCall of Duty: Modern Warfare’s controversial Skill Based Matchmaking system. All Cecot would say is that matchmaking works differently in everyCall of Dutygame and that connection is a “big priority,” though the studio is “constantly tweaking it.”
This is certainly some interesting insight intoCall of Duty: Modern Warfare’s multiplayerand why some things are the way they are. Some fans may not be happy to learn that the game won’t be bringing back the old mini-map or map voting, but at least they now have some answers as to why.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
