Summary
PC players can make use of a handful of new mods that addressDragon’s Dogma 2’s controversial microtransactions, tedious fast travel system, and its single save file. Capcom’s long-awaited fantasy RPG sequel,Dragon’s Dogma 2was just recently released last week to rave reviews. Despite some of its flaws in both design and monetization, it’s becoming one of the most revered games of 2024 so far, and a strong contender for Game of the Year.
Capcom made the questionable decision to add several microtransaction purchases toDragon’s Dogma 2right at launch, causing some frustration among the playerbase. Currently, single-use items used for fast-taveling aroundDragon’s Dogma 2’s open world, like Portcrystals and Ferrystones, are being offered as microtransactions, tempting players who may be getting fed-up with having to traverse the world on foot. A single Portcrystal, which, once set down at a point of interest by the player, can be fast traveled to with the use of a Ferrystone, is available inDragon’s Dogma 2’s microtransaction store for $2.99.

Thankfully for PC players, several modders have put out mods forDragon’s Dogma 2which help remedy the game’s microtransactions and other strange design choices. Crazy Potato’sCrazy’s Shop mod on NexusModsmakes a host of gated items like Ferrystones, Portcrystals, Wakestones, Camping Kits, and more available for players to buy with in-game gold at the game’s first vendor in Vernworth. Having been downloaded by 35,000 players, Crazy’s Shop is a helpful workaround forDragon’s Dogma 2players on PClooking to avoid shelling out cash for some of the game’s borderline essential items.
Items Available With Crazy’s Shop Dragon’s Dogma 2 Mod:
Even more PC mods forDragon’s Dogma 2have been made to handle some of the game’s more obtuse design decisions. SilverEzredes’Early n' Cheap Art of Metamorphosis modgives players easier access to the Art of Metamorphosis Tome, which allows them to edit their characters. Additionally, withDragon’s Dogma 2only providing a single saveslot that gets overwritten by every type of save, Lennard Fonteijn’sDragon’s Dogma 2Save Manager modgives players infinite save slots which they can swap between at will. The Save Manager mod also allows players to begin a new game, something that players without the mod aren’t able to do.
Whether Capcom has plans to make changes to some of these bizarre design elements in an update or DLC is unknown, but it has been confirmed that multiple save slots and anew game option is on the way toDragon’s Dogma 2sometime soon. The developer did rectify the fast-travel of the original game for itsDark Arisenre-release, adding an unlimited Eternal Ferrystone to players' chests, though players still needed to seek out and place Portcrystals to create fast travel points throughout the world. With the microtransaction debate heating up once again, it’ll be interesting to see if Capcom walks back its array of real world cash offerings.
