Hearthstoneis offering refunds to players who are unhappy with the new Legendary Hero Skins. These returns were given in response to a recent change to the premiumHearthstonecollectible items’ descriptions, which had previously made it sound like they included a feature they did not.

Legendary Hero Skins are anew type of premium collectible inHearthstone. These 3D skins have a special tray, frame, and animated portrait that react to certain actions, such as playing spells, summoning minions, attacking, taking damage, and using a Hero Power. Right now, the only Legendary Skins available inHearthstoneare the Sylvanas, Ranger General skin for Hunters, and the Arthas Menethil skin for Death Knights.

The description for theseHearthstonecollectibles originally made it sound like the Legendary Hero Skins would have special animations for their Hero Powers likemany of the other premium skins inHearthstone. However, when players loaded up the Legendary Hero Skins, they noticed this was not the case.Hearthstonerecently explained this was to keep emphasis on the animated portrait, but has since amended the description and offered refunds to players unsatisfied with the skins.

Hearthstonehad stealthily changed the descriptionsin the shop for the Legendary Sylvanas, Ranger General bundle without making a statement about it. Players who were already angry about the false advertising were further incensed by the perceived deception when they discovered this change. Luckily,Hearthstonecame through only a few hours later with a formal announcement, giving these angry players a chance to get a full refund on either Legendary Skin.

Players are gladHearthstoneis owning up to its mistake and offering the refunds. At a steep $25 price tag, these Legendary Hero Skins are quite the investment, sosomeHearthstoneplayers were understandably upsetwith the accidental false advertising. Had it not offered the guaranteed refunds for these items,Hearthstonecould have found itself in a rough spot, and future Legendary Hero Skin sales would have suffered for it. Now, at least players who are still happy with the skins may be inclined to buy more in the future.

That said, some players are still unhappy with the Legendary Hero Skins in the first place. Beyond their lack of unique Hero Power animations, some players think their unique art style clashes with the rest of the game, similarly toHearthstone’snew Signature cards. AsHearthstonedesigns more Legendary Hero Skins in the future, perhaps they will appear in a variety of new styles to cater to players with different tastes.

Hearthstoneis available now for mobile and PC.
