Microsoft kicked off the latest Inside Xbox livestream with two big announcements:Halo: The Master Chief Collectionis coming to PC, and will be adding the prequelHalo: Reach. The long-rumored PC version ofHalo: The Master Chief Collectionis being custom made for the platform, rather than being delivered as a straight port of the Xbox One version of the game.
As a result, Microsoft won’t releaseHalo: The Master Chief Collectionall at once, but is opting to release one game at a time on PC. This is due in large part to the depth of the project, ensuring each game is brought to its full potential on PC. To do this, Microsoft is partnering with other development studios includingRuffian Gamesand Splash Damage. Of course, there’s the added perk of giving each of the sixHalogames in the bundle its own time in the spotlight and opportunity for multiplayer to flourish.

TheHalo: MCCroll-out on PC will start withHalo: Reach. Both the game’s story mode and multiplayer will be released consequently on PC, though with the PC’s new custom browser, players can choose to download either mode from any given game and none of the rest.
Halo: Reachwill also be coming to Xbox One but its story and multiplayer will be released separately once each mode is finished.Halo: Reachwill, of course, be included with the full package via Game Pass.
Finally, there’s one other interesting detail regarding theHalo: The Master Chief Collectionrelease on PC worth noting. Not only will it be available via the Microsoft Store like most Microsoft first-party PC titles, but it will also be released on Steam.HaloSteamplayers will be required to have an Xbox account, but otherwise will be able to experience the package in its entirety as normal.
TheHalo: MCCPC announcement has been something that Microsoft has been working on for quite a long time now, as has the addition ofHalo: Reachto the bundle. It sounds like Microsoft and Xbox want these future plans to be everything fans need from the franchise, especially with it likely setting expectations for the upcomingHalo: Infinite. Of course, players will ultimately be the judge of whether Microsoft has delivered on those expectations.
