Video games from Rockstar Games are well-known and loved, and part of the reason for this is their extreme attention to detail. Games likeGrand Theft Auto 5andRed Dead Redemption 2have received attention and praise for theirincredible tiny details for a game, but not every detail in Rockstar Games' titles is absolutely perfect.

Recently, a player noticed something about cars inGrand Theft Auto Onlinethat’s a bit odd. Despite the wide range of vehicles available inGTA Online, there’s a discrepancy between what a car is capable of and how many pedals it has.

Redditor AlxR25 brought the discovery to the attention of theGTAsubreddit. In essence, they point out that cars inGTA Onlinelack gearshifts, which means that the cars are all supposedly automatic transmission. However, every automatic car has a third pedal, which would normally be a trademark of a manual transmission vehicle.

Some players pointed out that some cars have third pedals designed to do things like lock the parking brakes into place, but this one isn’t in the right location of the car for that to be the case. Fans also joked about the third pedal being for taking screenshots, or the cars having a second gas pedal. However, the reality of the situation is likely that one set of pedals was designed, and simply utilized in all cars.GTA 5didn’t get a first-person driving mode until it released for the PS4 and Xbox One, so it stands to reason that this was a detail few would have noticed prior to that, and simply wasn’t changed when the upgrade was released.

Previously, fans have pointed out that the interiors of many cars inGTA Onlineseem to be outdated, featuring things like cassette players instead of CD players or even aux cable ports. Considering these elements have no impact on gameplay, unless the player is participating in aGTA OnlineRP server, the car audio options nor pedals are particularly important to the game, with the exception of possibly breaking immersion somewhat.

It will be interesting to see if more discrepancies arise whenGTA 5andGTA Onlinemigrate to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, or if some will be resolved. The next-gen version hasn’t shown much of what gamers can expect, so they’ll largely be going in blind when the upgrade releases in March. However, if more weird details like this pop up, chances are players like AlxR25 will be quick to bring it to the fandom’s attention.

Grand Theft Auto Onlineis available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions slated to release on March 15.
