Rockstar Games finally announcedGrand Theft Auto 6earlier this year, confirming to its fans that the highly-anticipated game is in development and on the way. Now thatGrand Theft Auto 6has been announced to the masses, fans are waiting to learn more about the project. Official details onGrand Theft Auto 6are hard to come by, but leakers and industry insiders have let fans know more about what they can expect from the final product.

Grand Theft Autoseries leaker Matheusvictorbr- recently made some interesting claims aboutGrand Theft Auto 6, and more specifically, its map size. According to their information, theGTA 6mapwill be “as big” as theRed Dead Redemption 2map with “Caribbean islands” included but not part of the open world. This would be similar toRed Dead Redemption 2, which featured the tropical island of Guarma that players visit at one point in the campaign but are unable to return to after finishing the segment.

Red Dead Redemption 2’s map is massive, so it’s likely that theGrand Theft Auto 6map size will be sufficient for players. Of course, this is all assuming that the leaked information about theGTA 6map size is accurate. It’s always possible that plans will change between now and the game’s launch, with players ending up with a smaller or larger map.

In fact, a recent report suggested that Rockstar actually changed its plans about theGrand Theft Auto 6map size already. Apparently, Rockstar Games originally planned for theGTA 6map to encompass large parts of North and South America. However, those ambitious were apparently reeled in, with the developer eventually settling on a fictionalized Miami as the game’s setting. Reading between the lines, this means it’s highly likely thatGrand Theft Auto 6is set in Vice City, as has been rumored for years.

While theGTA 6map will apparently only consist of Vice City when the game launches, it seems as though fans can expect more cities to be added post-launch. It’s been said that Rockstar Games plans onreleasing new cities forGrand Theft Auto 6as DLC, which should greatly expand the game and give its longevity a significant boost, if true.

As for when fans will learn Theft Auto 6in an official capacity, that remains to be seen. Estimates put theGTA 6release dateas some time in 2024 or 2025, so it’s likely fans will have to wait quite some time to see the game in action and learn more about Rockstar’s plans for the title.
