Fans of the long-runningGrand Theft Autovideo game series were ecstatic when Rockstar Games showed offfootage ofGrand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Editionlast week. TheDefinitive Editionlooked to be faithful updated versions of the classics with improved visuals, lighting, controls, and a ton more.

With just a month away though, there have been several questions floating around in regards to the trilogy. Initially released in 2001,Grand Theft Auto 3was a financial and critical success for the series, but it included some elements that some deemed a bit too much for a video game to depict.Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Editionhas already made changesto the original games, so fans reasonably began to wonder what other changes were in store for the series.

There doesn’t seem to be any significant changes coming as a post from ESRB confirms thatGrand Theft Auto 3 - The Definitive Editionwill be rated M as well as the reasonings for why.Grand Theft Auto 3has been rated M for Blood and Gore, Drug Reference, Intense Violence, Sexual Content, Strong Lyrics. The post goes into a bit more detail outlining some of the specific instancesGrand Theft Auto 3has that such as the inclusion of the red-light district depicting sex workers.

Of course, though, the post doesn’t highlight every instance so it’s possible the game could have been altered in other areas. It’s not something that will be known until release, but from what is shown so far, it’s unlikelyGrand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Editionwill see anysignificant changes in terms of controversial content.

One thing that is quite interesting however is the fact thatGrand Theft Auto 3 – The Definitive Editionhas been rated M, separate from the trilogy. This doesn’t necessarily mean that meansGrand Theft Auto 3might release separately as this rating might be something that would have needed to be done regardless.

It’s unclear whether RockStar Games will be selling the games separately or only keeping them in the Trilogy pack. As of now though,Grand Theft Auto 3 – The Definitive Editionwill be coming to PS Now in December whileGrand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Editionwill be coming to Game Passnext month. The M ratingGrand Theft Auto 3 – The Definitive Editionreceived is perhaps expected, but something that could hint at how these trilogies of games will be handled in the future

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Editionis set to release digitally on November 11 and physically on December 7, for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
