Video game publisher and developer Ubisoft officially reveals the forthcoming dates for the open beta of its tactical third-person shooterGhost Recon: Wildlands.
Now that theclosed betaforGhost Recon: Wildlandshas come and gone, fans of the game who missed out on the trial are surely looking forward to getting another shot at trying the game out before the full version of the title goes live next month for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Thankfully, Ubisoft has now officially announced the dates forGhost Recon: Wildlands' forthcoming open beta by way of a new trailer.
As seen below in thevideo courtesy of Ubisoft on YouTube,Ghost Recon: Wildlands' open beta is set to run from February 23 through February 27 on all of the game’s available platforms, with pre-loading beginning a couple of days ahead of the test on February 21. However, Ubisoft didn’t confirm exactly how large the open beta’s file size is going to be, but if it’s similar to the one from the closed beta, then fans should expect about 25 GB in memory to be required for the upcoming trial.
For those wondering exactly what the open beta forGhost Recon: Wildlandswill include, Ubisoft has declared that everything available within the closed beta will be accessible within the open trial, in addition to extra content in the form of a province called Montuyoc. In thedescription of the contentsforGhost Recon: Wildlands' beta, Ubisoft has explained Montuyoc as being “Set in the Bolivian Altiplano region,” and it “contains heavily defended strongholds where the Santa Blanca trains some of its toughest soldiers.”
Furthermore, fans who were lucky enough to take part inGhost Recon: Wildlands' closed beta, and those who will try out the open beta will receive access to what Ubisoft is calling the “Unidad Conspiracy,” which contains three “exclusive” missions that will be available for players when the game comes out in March. The developer has revealed that these missions will involve a “brewing conflict between the local Unidad military and the Santa Blanca.” to receive the missions, fans will need to purchase the retail version ofGhost Recon: Wildlands– be it the standard version or one of the game’s5 different special editions– and play it before March 31 on the same Ubisoft account used to access the beta.
Taking all of this into account, Ubisoft’s decision to holdGhost Recon: Wildlands' open beta just a few short weeks ahead of the game’s launch is sure to stoke the eager excitement for what is already considered by many to be one ofthe most highly anticipated video games of 2017. For the sake of both Ubisoft and its fans, hopefully the company will be able to fix any problems found in the open beta and avoid releasingGhost Recon: Wildlandsin a messy state, as some have claimed to be the case with the publisher and developer’s recent release of the hack-and-slash titleFor Honor. However, only time will tell if a similar situation occurs.
Ghost Recon: Wildlandsis slated to release on July 29, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
