Genshin Impactfans have discovered a major quality-of-life feature added with the RPG’s Version 4.1 update, focused on making newly-added quests easier to progress. The Version 4.1 update to HoYoverse’s massively popular RPG brought plenty of new content to the game, adding a new section of Fontaine containing the Fortress of Meropide and the Fontaine Research Institute. The patch also introduces two new characters toGenshin Impact’s playable roster with Neuvilletteand Wriothesley. Now, players are discovering a major fix that flew under the radar.
Each new update toGenshin Impacttypically comes with a suite of new quests for players to tackle, learning more about the in-game world and helping its many NPCs. The game’s Archon Quests work to progress the main story ofGenshin Impact, while Story Quests serve as deeper looks at the RPG’s individual characters. A new feature added toGenshin Impact’s Version 4.1 update now allows players to suspend ongoing quests in order to continue the new update’s story. Upon reaching an event in the Archon Quest where characters are involved with other quests, players are now given a prompt to suspend those older quests in order tocontinue Version 4.1’s Archon Quest. Previously, players would have been required to complete their pre-existing quests, or portions of those quests, in order to free up specific NPCs. The quality-of-life change was not mentioned in HoYoverse’s official “Update Details” for Version 4.1.
While the feature has seemingly only been added forGenshin Impact’s newest quest, its introduction has major implications for the RPG going forward. The game’s pre-existing system of tying NPCs to specific quests has been a common complaint from players unable to proceed with new content. Many ofGenshin Impact’s questsare automatically triggered when moving into certain areas, potentially accidentally locking characters into a certain quest while attempting to complete another. HoYoverse has not made an official comment on whether the new feature will be applied to older quests.
Alongside new quests and characters,Genshin Impact’s newest update also brings a plethora of events for players to earn rewards. Version 4.1’s main event, “Waterborne Poetry,” will whisk players back to Mondstadt and Liyue for a poetry festival alongside re-runs of several other popular events. The update will also celebrateGenshin Impact’s third anniversarywith two separate login campaigns, granting Primogems and Intertwined Fates.Genshin Impact’s quality-of-life change should look to make progressing through new quests much easier for players.
Genshin Impactis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
