The debut ofGenshin Impact’s newest region has introduced players to a diverse cast of characters throughout its early story. The opening act of Version 4.0 would debut the newest region’s Archon, Furina, who would quickly become a fan-favorite amongGenshin Impactplayers. Previous leaks have hinted players would not have to wait long either for her debut, with the Hydro Archon expected to launch with the release of Version 4.2. Now, a new leak suggests the Archon has a major change in store for her premiere.

An update shared by prominentGenshin Impactleaker Tao via fellow leaker HXG has revealedFurina’s involvement with the Version 4.2 story. The leak suggests that Furina’s role in Version 4.2’s story will see the characterlose her status as the Hydro Archon. While the post does not share the reason for the sudden shift in Furina’s role, the Archon known as Focalors will not only lose her status but also her powers as the God of Justice. The post does also mention the change is different from that of Zhongli’s shift during Liyue’s main story.
While Furina is set to play a major role in Version 4.2’s story, the patch will also see her launch as a playable character with leaks already teasing her gameplay. Furina is expected to debut with a unique stacking mechanic as the core of her kit,rewarding Furina for both healing and losing HP. Recovering HP will grant bonus healing effects to Furina in battle while taking damage will see buffs to her elemental damage. Furina andGenshin Impact’s Version 4.2 update are expected to launch on November 8th.
Furina’s debut in Version 4.2 comes following a patch set to be jam-packed with plenty of new content forGenshin Impactfans. Version 4.1 will debut a pair of new characters with Neuvillette and Wriothesley, as well as a new map expansion in Fontaine’s Fortress of Meropide. The update is also expected to whisk players back toGenshin Impact’s original regions witha joint poetry festival between Mondstadt and Liyueas one of Version 4.1’s main events. Between new characters and major story twists, HoYoverse looks to have plenty in store for the RPG’s newest region.
