Developer HoYoverse keeps expandingGenshin Impact’s character roster with almost every new update that arrives. The new Sumeru region has exceeded the community’s expectations as it took the game’s exploration experience to the next level.
After a couple of Sumeru-focused updates, players expect the game’s story to return to Teyvat’s first two regions, Mondstadt and Liyue. A new post on theGenshin ImpactLeaks subReddit has revealed that a popular character from Liyue might join the playable roster in the foreseeable future.

According to the leak, the famous Dendro user Baizhu will apparently arrive inGenshin Impactupdate 3.4 which, according to HoYoverse’s usual update schedule, should drop around mid-January. At the moment, he is just a popular NPC and the proud owner of the famous Bubu Pharmacy in Liyue. Since his first appearance during the Archon Quest Chapter 1, Baizhu has created a lot of hype in the community due to the fact that he had a Dendro Vision. This led many players to believe that he would be thefirst Dendro character to arrive to the game.
The fact that he is a Liyue character is probably one of the reasons why he isn’t part ofthe first Sumeru expansions. Multiple replies in the comment section claim that his leaked release date makes sense considering that update 3.4 will probably host the Lantern Rite Festival which is an annual event inGenshin Impactthat revolves around the Chinese New Year. Fans have pointed out that Baizhu might be related to one of the Fatui Harbingers named Pantalone who was featured in the recent “A Winter Night’s Lazzo” teaser.
The two characters share a similar design which led many players to believe that they are actually the same person andBaizhu is just a performance by Pantalonewhose job could be to gather information from Liyue. Another fan-made theory claims that they could be brothers who despite their similarities, contrast each other in many other ways. While Pantalone has an overall gray color scheme, Baizhu is one of the most colorful characters in the game.
When it comes to his weapon type he is expected to be a new Catalyst user with strong healing capabilities. Players claim that they will hardly have any Primogems left for Baizhu’s release considering that thenext couple ofGenshin Impactupdatescould introduce some of the game’s most anticipated characters like Cyno, Nahida, and Scaramouche.
