Just as there are attractive and charismatic characters inGenshin Impact, there are also irritating ones. This is part of what gives the game harmonic dynamics, and makes seeing them a fun experience. A character’s annoying nature might be due to a mannerism, a personality trait, or even the way they look.

That isn’t to say players should avoid these characters inGenshin Impact. If anything, players ought to get them for the color they bring to the world of the game. After all, not all characters can be cool and composed. Some of them have to be pranksters, klutzes, village idiots, or self-absorbed snobs so that the nicer or more competent characters stand out.
10Bennett Can Be Overly Enthusiastic
Depending on whether players are optimists or pessimists, Bennett is either annoying or awesome. He simply doesn’t believe in giving up like a stereotypicalshonenanime character. This is despite his many failed attempts to be acompetent adventurer. Still, he’s actually a lovely character to have.
Some players grow annoyed that he keeps repeating that one Japanese voice-over line (bouken da bouken!)during combat. It can drive some players insane with how often and how enthusiastically he says it. The English variant isn’t too maddening, though Bennett still yells it frequently.
Xianglingis a bit like Paimon, except she’s a mortal and a playable character. Like Paimon, she’s not the sharpest tool in the shed, she’s a beer short of a six-pack, a few sandwiches short of a picnic. She doesn’t care for much other than food and consuming whatever she cooked.

As a result, she doesn’t get involved much in the most important matters of Liyue. In fact, she mostly gets sent outside of Liyue. Her choice of ingredients are often odd, and would likely give anyone a bad case of salmonella poisoning. Oh, there’s also that damned bear she unleashes with her Elemental Skill. It doesn’t help much and can’t aim to save its life.
8Barbara’s Huge Ego Is Overwhelming
In every anime with a cast of characters that exceed the number of fingers on one hand, there’s always a loud, popular girl who’s caught up in her fame and popularity. InGenshin Impact,that’sBarbara. She’s Mondstadt’s local diva, and it doesn’t help that she’s also from a royal family.
Barbara has the audacity to proclaim herself as an “idol” after merely learning the word from a foreign adventurer. On top of that, she’s a sanctimonious devout of the Church of Favonius who values the sacred idea of religious tokens more than their intended function. She also isn’t smart enough to recognize a god even if it mocked her to her face.
7Kaeya Tricks & Manipulates
Players don’t have to be Diluc to be wary of Kaeya. This man is roguish and shady despite his mature facade and esteemed position in the Knights of Favonius. Kaeya’s playful guile probably earned him the rank of Cavalry Captain.

That doesn’t stopKaeyafrom trying to deceive anyone he wants to to gain information. He even played the Traveler like a tool in the early moments of the game. He might be a valuable ally to have, but he’s probably that oneannoying friend who can’t be trusted and always plays tricks.
6Keqing Is A Dull Tsundere Stereotype
As expected in an anime game likeGenshin Impact, it has to have anime stereotypes. One of the most famous stereotypes in the medium is thetsundere,characters who have an abrasive exterior but a warm personality inside.
Keqing mostly shows her irritable and serious outer shell, rather than her charming and down-to-earth true self. She’s quite vocal about her irreverence for Rex Lapis when in truth, she owns a figurine collection of Liyue’s god whom she probably admires for several hours before falling asleep.
5Fischl Is An Elitist Snob
No one likes a snob with asuperiority complex; they’re only appealing in fiction. Even in stories, they’re pretty insufferable. That’s whyFischlcan be quite a handful for many players and even the other characters inGenshin Impact.

In fact,PrinzessinFischl only has one friend in Mondstadt, and that’s Bennett. However, Bennett is friends with everyone, so he barely counts. The way she speaks is also enough to give anyone some nasty frontal lobe migraines, as her words are needlessly verbose with a rising monotone. Luckily, she doesn’t get much spotlight.
4Diona Is Full Of Contradictions
Diona, likeKeqing, is a classictsunderewho’s also more hypocritical than the usual characters of this archetype. That’s becauseDiona hates alcohol, but instead of abstaining from it, she decides to become an alcohol tycoon in Mondstadt.
She’s not just any alcohol tycoon either — her tavern is one of the best. Oddly enough, she still hates alcohol because of her father’s alcoholism, and she blamesDilucfor her father’s lack of self-control. Apparently, she’s also a teenager in her rebellious phase, so there.
3Hu Tao Is Thoughtless And Abrasive
Speaking of rebellious phases,Hu Taodoesn’t seem to have outgrown her tendencies. Out of all the few people that tolerate her, only Xiangling stands out. If that’s the best person she could retain at her side, then that says a lot about her abrasiveness.

Even someone as stoic and peaceful as Qiqi can’t stand her. Hu Tao and her pranks can sometimes go too far. She often acts like a brat with little regard for human life or, more importantly, for her customers' satisfaction at her funeral parlor.
2Tartaglia’s A Liar And A Schemer
Turns out there’s an even bigger liar than Kaeya: ChildeTartaglia. He’s one of themost powerful charactersin the game both gameplay and lore-wise, being the 11th Fatui Harbinger. Childe is likely a pathological liar, thanks to the nature of his work.
He lied about being a toymaker to his little brother. He also deceived the Traveler, and pretty much all of Liyue. Let’s not forget Childe releasing Osial, an imprisoned enemy of Rex Lapis, with the intent of bringing out Liyue’s God just so he could challenge him. He was willing to risk everyone’s life in Liyue just to fuel his ego.
1Paimon’s Ditziness Might Hide Sinister Motives
Good lord, here we go. Paimon was made to be the bluntest character inGenshin Impact. She doesn’t know much and only seeks to be a spokesperson for the initially mute Traveler. That in itself is suspicious.
Many theories point to her feigning stupidity in order to throw the Traveler off-guard. She could well be the main villain of the game for all we know, as certain visual pieces of evidence have suggested. Thankfully, she’s getting a lot less tiresome as the story unfolds better — maybe so the players will let their guard down even more.
