There’s no doubt that Epic Games has plenty of changes planned forFortniteBattle Royale’s forthcoming eighth season. For instance, the studio recently declared its intentions to put theX-4 Stormwing Planein the the Vault once the free-to-play title’s next major cycle of content begins. Other than certain item tweaks, though, there’s no telling exactly what kind of overall aesthetic changes could be coming to the game. However, should a recent image be an indication of what’s to come, thenFortniteSeason 8 may have a pirate theme.
Today,Epic Gamesreleased a teaser image forFortniteSeason 8 that shows a hook in the foreground of a crimson red backdrop, with the developer using pirate-esque terminology to hint at what’s to come for Season 8’s launch. Two of the more telling lines that Epic delivers to imply that the game’s next season will be inspired by pirates are “X Marks The Spot” and “Treasure abound”.
While there’s no way to know for sure just what Epic Games has in store forFortniteSeason 8, these details definitely seem to related to pirates, and a buccaneer-styled season falls in line somewhat with fan theories regarding how the map could be reoriented. As it so happens, some players have hypothesized that thecracks currently forming in the groundare a precursor to the entire map splitting up into smaller islands.
Should this come to pass with Epic actually planning to include a pirate theme forFortniteSeason 8, then it stands to reason that the studio would need to incorporate some kind of brand new nautically-inclined vehicle as well. This could come in the form of a ship, a ferry, a schooner, a dinghy, or even a jetski, as there would need to be a means to both represent the sea-loving life of pirates and provide players with a way to get to these potential islands. Of course, it must be noted that this is merely speculation at this point in time.
All things considered, it will be interesting to see just what Epic Games has in store forFortniteBattle Royale’s Season 8. Thankfully, players won’t have to wait too much longer to find out, as the next cycle of content is due to drop in just four days from now. Until then, players who have yet to tackle the game’s Overtime Challenges should do so if they want toget Season 8’s Battle Pass for free.
