It’s early Thursday morning, which means that theFortniteservers briefly went down in preparation for the launch of new add-ons, a new limited time mode, and a new update. But to keep players occupied while they wait to get back to Battle Royale, Epic Games has released the patch notes for the latest update.
While not as substantial as Season 3 update, this week’s patch still has a few items of note. The biggest item on the docket is, of course, theTeams of 20 Limited Time Modethat pits five teams of 20 against each other.

It might be a team of 20, but players cannot exceed squads of four. Every member of the 20-player team will be able to see the other on the map, and theteam killing protectionwill keep every friendly safe. Epic has also boosted treasure chest appearances and supply drops to better suit the number of players working together and presumably to avoid infighting between strangers.
The only other big change in the update will give players credit for an elimination if they kill an opponent with fall damage. Previously, if a player destroyed a building underneath an opponent or sent them flying using thenew impulse grenade, the kill feed would say they didn’t stick the landing. Now the person responsible for creating the fall damage will get credit for the elimination.

On the cosmetics front, the update will deliver the Burnout skin for players to purchase with their V-bucks. It’s a new skin and plenty of players will likely purchase to support Fortnite and Epic, but it’s arguably less desirable than theJohn Wick skin. Nevertheless, a change of scenery is always nice.
Of course, the update also makes some tweaks to the Save the World mode in Fortnite, including a new speed boost pad for the hover board. However, Save the World pales in comparison to Battle Royale when it comes to popularity. Just this week, for example,FortnitesurpassedPlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds as themost watched and most streamed game on Twitch.
Expect that popularity to continue through today, as more viewers check out the new mode, new skin, and the handful of gameplay changes. Read the full patch notes (not including the Teams of 20 details) below:
