FortniteSeason 7 Week 3has now begun in Epic Games' hit multiplayer shooter, and players should be out there, completing challenges to get Battle Stars and unlock more cosmetic loot. However, fans' plans hit a bit of a snag this morning when they began to face serious performance issues with the game’s modes.
On social media,Fortniteplayers reported a range of connection issues with the game. Many players are saying that they are facing infinite loading screens upon trying to enterFortnite’s various game modes. This includes the Playground and Creative game modes as well as the standard battle royale mode. According to one player’s tweet, they had been stuck on an infinite loading screen and had been waiting for an hour for it to disappear and let them into the game.
Some players have also said that there are even problems when they actually get into a game. Some are saying thatFortnitekeeps freezing or even crashing when they get into matches, preventing them from playing properly.
The situation may be upsetting for players eager to get into the game, butEpic Gamessays that it is already on the case. A tweet from the officialFortniteaccount stated that the development team is “aware of server performance issues across all modes.” While it didn’t name the issue specifically, the tweet adds that the team has “identified the cause” and it is “working on a fix.” In a follow-up tweet, it confirmed that it has released a server fix and that remaining issues should be resolved “over the next couple of hours.”
Fortnitehas more than200 million playersacross PC, consoles and mobile devices, so it’s understandable that the game may exhibit server performance issues in particular. But fans have expressed concern that the game seems to end up with some technical issue after every weekly update. While fans welcome the new content these updates add, they are a little bit miffed that they can’t immediately enjoy this without putting up with some bugs, lag, and crashes as well.
It’s unclear whether Epic Games has a more long-term plan for stopping these technical issues before they arise. As the game adds more content or its player base grows, these technical problems could only get much worse every update if they aren’t addressed.
Fortniteis available on Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
