Forspoken’sco-director, Takeshi Tareda, has revealed that it takes around 30-40 hours to beat the game in an average playthrough.Forspokenis an upcoming action-adventure title from Square Enix and Luminous Productions, the studio behindFinal Fantasy 15.It features a New Yorker known as Frey who lives an ordinary life until one day she is transported to the magical world of Athia, where a corruption has taken over. WhileForspokenhas been hit with multiple delays, it has also been showing off more and more of its gameplay, story, and open world in recent months, indicating that Square Enix is readying the title for its latest January release date.
However, something that many weren’t sure of is how long it will take to complete Frey’s adventures in Athia. AsForspokensets itself up as a AAA action-adventure experience with an open world, similar to many other popular titles such asHorizon Zero DawnorElden Ring, many wondered how many hours a player would get out of their time in Athia. Recently, some titles have claimed that they will take hundreds of hours to complete, such asDying Light 2, but for all those except the most extreme completionists, this doesn’t seem like a realistic figure.

Now, Takeshi Tareda,Forspoken’sco-director, spoke with 3DJuegos and revealed how long it takes to beatForspoken, hoping to give fans a solid expectation. Tareda stated that a playthrough ofForspokenshould take around 30-40 hours for the average player. This specifically refers toForspoken’smain story, though, and not its side activities and exploration. Terada also mentions that there will be plenty of secondary missions not directly associated with the fate of Athia to keep players busy.
Those who just want to get through Frey’s story inForspokenwill still get a good amount of value out of the game’s $70 price point, and for the completionists who want to see everything Athia has to offer, it seems there will be much to do beyond just stopping the corruption of the fantasy land.Forspoken’sopen worldhas been set up as both a beautiful and tragic place, where corruption has altered everything except for a single city, which acts as the main hub of the world.
This could offer an interesting dynamic inForspoken, as it seems a lot of Frey’s main quest will be fixing the corruption of Athia. In any case, with 30-40 hours spent on just that quest alone,Forspokenaligns the length of its main story with other prominent upcoming titles, such as Bethesda’s sci-fi RPG.Todd Howard revealed thatStarfieldwill take 30-40 hours to beatback in June.
