Before they leave, however, players will have a chance to pursue two new side quests by finding their quest-givers in The Hideaway and interacting with them.
Final Fantasy 16’sBlacksmith’s Bluesside quest tasks Clive with finding a way to cheer up Blackthorne, The Hideaway’s blacksmith. This may sound like a pretty straightforward task at first, but it can be a little difficult to complete if Clive has yet to reach Level 28.

There are four Blacksmith’s Blues side quests inFinal Fantasy 16. Those looking for one of the others can find links to them below.
How To Start Blacksmith’s Blues In Final Fantasy 16
To start the Blacksmith’s Blues side quest inFinal Fantasy 16, Clive must travel toThe Messarea in The Hideaway and speak to August, who can be found looking out to the horizon in the southeast corner.
August will then inform Clive that he’s worried about Blackthorne, The Hideaway’s only blacksmith. Unfortunately, this quest-giver has no idea what’s troubling him, so it’s up to Clive to find out for himself.

Upon accepting the quest from August, Clive should backtrack to theBoarding Deckand head north into theMain Deck. Turning left and taking the first right, he will arrive atThe Black Hammer, where Blackthorne’s Forge is. Blackthorne can be seen standing behind his anvil; when Clive interacts with him, August will appear.
August will then ask Blackthorne what’s bothering him; in response, Blackthorne will express how he feels his forging skills are not up to scratch anymore. Hoping to reignite the blacksmith’s passion for his craft, Clive will begin searching for a beautifully madeLeather Cuirassfor Blackthorne to study.

When the conversation ends, Clive can turn to the right to find and speak to Charon, just right ofThe Black Hammer’sentrance. While speaking to her, however, she informs Clive that she has already sold the Leather Cuirass.
How To Find Dozmare The Griffin
Whoever bought the Leather Cuirass from Charon is a leatherworker, and their next job requires them tofind and defeat a Griffin. Clive can use this knowledge to track the individual down, but before he sets off from The Hideaway, he should first enter The Mess and interact withNektar, the Moogle standing next tothe Hunt Board.
Upon speaking with Nektar, players must select the"Ask aboutgriffinsightings"option; then, they can inspect the Hunt Board to learn where the Griffin (also known asDozmare) is located.

The quickest way to reach the Dozmare the Griffin’s domain is tofast-travel to the Lostwing Obeliskand follow the road leading throughCutter’s Gate. When Clive eventually gets to theCaer Norvent River Gate, he can head south toward the castle’s wall to begin the battle.
If players have completedThe White-Winged Wonder, Clive can reach the Caer Norvent River Gate much faster bysummoning and mounting his Chocobo.

How To Beat Dozmare The Griffin
Dozmare can be a pretty deceptive enemy, as most of its opening attacks are easy to avoid and take advantage of. That said, the battle gets a lot harder once the creature’s health reaches the halfway point. During this phase, Dozmare will begin using some seriously dangerouswind-based attacksthat can take significant chunks off of Clive’s health. To counter this, players should ensure Clive is fullystocked up on healablesbefore beginning the battle.

For the most part, players can get by if they simply dodge the Dozmare’s physical attacks; these attacks can be a little fast, but they are easy to anticipate if Clive is a safe distance away.
One of the most dangerous tricks up Dozmare’s sleeve sees the creature ascending into the sky andsurrounding itself in a small tornado. If Clive happens to be standing within the tornado’s range, he candodge away to avoid taking damage.

The Dozmare’sNoble Dive attackcan also be a little tricky to deal with. This attack sees the beast flying into the sky before diving at Clive. The aftermath of this moveproduces a pretty big shockwave, so if players want to ensure Clive doesn’t get hit, they should back away the moment they see the"Noble Dive"text appear above Dozmare’s body.
Being a Griffin, Dozmare will regularly take to the skies to perform a variety of attacks. Clive’s physical attacks aren’t as reliable during these moments, but players can make up for this by relying onRamuh’s ranged abilities. Not only can these attacks reach the creature when it’s airborne, but they can also deal some pretty decent damage. Ramuh’s projectile abilities can be used from a distance, soClive doesn’t need to get too close to Dozmare when relying on them.

So long as players take care to avoid getting struck by Dozmare’s more intimidating attacks and make regular use ofthe Dodge button, the battle can be won with relative ease. That said, if Clive is underleveled and players feel that Dozmare is a little too powerful for him, they may need to level Clive up to even the playing field.
As a reward for defeating Dozmare, Clive will receive1 Scarletiteand1 Meteorite, both of which can be used tocraft and upgrade his gear.
