Final Fantasy 14launched Island Sanctuary with Buried Memories, the second major content patch ofEndwalker– and one player has created an infographic that breaks down all the different tameable animals, their rare versions, as well as how to get the most out of them. Thenewly-introduced Island Sanctuary inFinal Fantasy 14has been an interesting change of tone compared to the usual content found in the game, as it offers a reprieve from all the monster-slaying and dungeon-delving.

After concluding theEndwalkermain scenario quests, players can talk to Tataru in Old Sharlayan to receive their own private island, and they are free to explore, build, and decorate this secluded sanctuary to their heart’s content. While the content provides no tangible upgrades to their equipment, it does offer plenty of mounts and cosmetic rewards for players to pursue. In order to purchase these rewards, players need to obtain Seafarer and Islander Cowries, and the better their Island Sanctuary gets, the faster this process becomes.

A good source of extra cowries is the Pasture, whereFinal Fantasy 14players can tame, feed, and tend to their domesticated animals. To that end, The Phookas has created a handy animal guide for all the different Island Sanctuary critters, and shared the infographic on theFinal Fantasy 14subreddit. This extremely useful manual covers just about everything: from the specific nets required to capture specific animals, to the locations and weather conditions where they might be found, as well as the unique leavings each animal produces.

The Island Pasture can only hold five animals when initially constructed, but can be upgraded to hold a maximum of 20 at Level 3. Players can also hire a Caretaker if the Pasture is fully upgraded should they wish to relegate the duty of animal tending. One of the rarest and mostdifficult animals to catch inFinal Fantasy 14is the Alligator, requiring a specific time-of-day and weather condition to spawn.

Though players have certainly had their fun with the Island Sanctuary, it’s clear that the feature is only a foundation of what it could eventually be. While thenext major patch forFinal Fantasy 14’sEndwalkerwon’t be introducing any new Island Sanctuary content, it is expected that the game will expand on its features in a substantial way through Patch 6.4 and 6.5, the former of which is slated for launch in the first half of 2023.

Final Fantasy 14is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
