Final Fantasy 14offers players ajourney with amazing characters, throughout which it’s necessary toface several challenging encountersindungeons or amazing trials. These duties are apart of the main story, and make the game even more fun to play - but they’re not the only dungeons available.
The MMO presents several other encounters that are entirely optional and must be unlocked.Every expansion adds new optional dungeons, allowing all players (even those enjoying thegame through its Free Trial) to experience other encounters that often make the world richer with its environments or nods to the story and lore as a whole. Here is how and where to unlock every optional dungeon inFinal Fantasy 14!
Although some dungeons have names that suggest they are more difficult versions of previously unlocked dungeons, that isn’t the case. All dungeons are on the same level of difficulty as the main story, even those that are “hard” versions of previously completed dungeons.
Halatali
Level: 20
Requirements: Completing the level 19 Main Scenario Quest “Dressed to Deceive”.
Unlock quest: “Hallo Halatali”, picked up with Nedrick Ironheart (X: 12.0, Y: 14.3) in Western Thanalan. Teleport to Horizon or use anaetheryte ticket to Vesper Bayto get to him faster (he is to the left of the staircase leading to theentrance to the Waking Sands).
The Sunken Temple of Qarn
Level: 35
Unlock quest: “Braving New Depths”, picked up with Nedrick Ironheart (X: 12.0, Y: 14.3) in Western Thanalan. Teleport to Horizon or use an aetheryte ticket to Vesper Bay to get to him faster (he is to the left of the staircase leading to the entrance to the Waking Sands).
Cutter’s Cry
Level: 38
Unlock quest: “Dishonor Before Death”, picked up with Sibold (X: 14.0, Y: 10.1)in Ul’dah - Steps of Thal. The Sapphire Avenue Exchange aethernet point is the closest to him, as he is by the Market Board there.
Dzemael Darkhold
Level: 44
Unlock quest: “Fort of Fear”, picked up with Carrilaut (X: 24.7, Y: 28.8) in Coerthas Central Highlands. He is in the Observatorium, inside the small building near theGrand Company Leves NPC.
The Aurum Vale
Level: 47
Unlock quest: “Going for Gold”, picked up with Nedrick Ironheart (X: 12.0, Y: 14.3) in Western Thanalan. Teleport to Horizon or use an aetheryte ticket to Vesper Bay to get to him faster (he is to the left of the staircase leading to the entrance to the Waking Sands).

Unlock quest: “Trauma Queen”, picked up with Allene (X: 11.5, Y: 13.9), near the entrance to the Waking Sands in Western Thanalan. She is a little behind the building, to the left of the door as seen in the picture above. Horizon is the closest teleport point.
Requirements: Completing the Main Scenario up to the level 50 quest “The Ultimate Weapon”
Unlock quest: “Ghosts of Amdapor”, picked up with Nedrick Ironheart (X: 12.0, Y: 14.3) in Western Thanalan. Teleport to Horizon or use an aetheryte ticket to Vesper Bay to get to him faster (he is to the left of the staircase leading to the entrance to the Waking Sands).

Unlock quest: “Curds and Slay”, picked up with Bloezoeng (X: 22.1, Y: 8.7) in Mor Dhona. He can be found inside Seventh Heaven near the bar.

Unlock quest: “Corpse Groom”, picked up with Paiyo Reiyo (X: 12.2, Y: 8.1) in Ul’dah - Steps of Nald. He can be found near the chocobokeep across the street from the Adventurer’s Guild aethernet point.
Unlock quest: “Blood for Stone”, picked up with Faillicie (X: 21.9, Y: 8.4) in Mor Dhona. She can be found inside Seventh Heaven.

Unlock quest: “It’s Definitely Pirates”, picked up with Bloezoeng (X: 22.1, Y: 8.7) in Mor Dhona. He can be found inside Seventh Heaven near the bar.
Requirements: Completing the Main Scenario up to the level 50 quest “The Ultimate Weapon” and the optional level 35 quest “Braving New Depths” (to unlock and complete the dungeon The Sunken Temple of Qarn).
Unlock quest: “The Wrath of Qarn”, picked up with Hugubert (X: 22.0, Y: 8.7) in Mor Dhona. He can be found inside Seventh Heaven, to the left of the Rising Stones entrance.
