Summary
AsFinal Fantasy 14continues to expand, even after so many years on the market, it’s worth wondering what else Square Enix has up its sleeve in terms of expansions and content updates. As the developer looks to thefuture of theFinal FantasyIP, it should toy around with the idea of bringing one ofFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s best bits of side content to its ever-popular MMO.
Queen’s Blood is one ofFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s many pleasant surprises, standing above most of the game’s countless other mini games. The card game’s electrifying jazz music, straightforward yet refreshing ruleset, and nearly endless potential for creativity help establish it as relentlessly addictive, and severalFF7 Rebirthplayers will no doubt be left wanting more of it after credits roll. Indeed, for a totally optional side activity, Queen’s Blood is remarkably well-designed and worthwhile, and it might be even better inFinal Fantasy 14.

Final Fantasy 14 Could Upgrade Queen’s Blood
FF7 Rebirth Players Want More Queen’s Blood
LikeThe Witcher 3’s Gwent before it,Queen’s Blood is a deceptively complex mini-game that has the potential to carry its own stand-alone title, with a mobile version of the gaming seemingly particularly fitting. Barring such a spin-off game, though, Queen’s Blood could still live on in the form of DLC or futureFinal Fantasygames. At least, players can probably rest assured that it will return in the third chapter of theFinal Fantasy 7remake saga.
Whatever the future has in store for Queen’s Blood, it’s safe to say that most fans would be happy to see it expanded upon in some form. The version ofQueen’s Blood players get inFF7 Rebirth, as good as it is, has plenty of room to improve, especially when it comes to challenge and replay value. For example, it’s very easy to find a fairly effective Queen’s Blood deck in the early game, so even though there are tons of cards to collect and a lot of ways to experiment, experimentation isn’t exactly encouraged outside a few one-off challenge rounds. Additional, more challenging ways to engage with Queen’s Blood would go a long way toward realizing the game’s full potential, andFinal Fantasy 14could be the stage for this growth.
Queen’s Blood Could Be Perfect for Final Fantasy 14
FF7 RebirthQueen’s Blood DLChasn’t been ruled out, but it doesn’t seem to be in active development either, so fans of the side activity might not want to hold their breath. At the same time, ignoring the minigame would be leaving money on the table, as it has turned out to be one of the most memorable and enjoyable parts ofFF7 Rebirth. Square Enix could take the game beyondRebirthand into the broaderFinal Fantasyuniverse by adding it toFinal Fantasy 14, unshackling it from its limitations.
The greatest benefit of this decision, at least on the players' side, would be the possible addition of PvP matches.FF7 Rebirthonly has a limited number of Queen’s Bloodmatches, and while they can be replayed, there’s no real reason to do so. Allowing PvP matches would solve this issue, allowing for theoretically infinite matches. More importantly, this would encourage greater experimentation and creative deck builds, as it wouldn’t be as easy to create an overpowered, one-size-fits-all deck like it is inRebirth. Since it’s an MMO,Final Fantasy 14updates could also serve to add new cards, customization options, and more, increasing the longevity of Queen’s Blood and nurturing a genuine competitive scene, maybe even elevating it to the level ofGwent.
