Summary

Bethesda has made some more changes to theFallout 76Scoreboard system, which include a tweak that made some of the rewards on its final page non-repeatable. While the alterations were made without any fanfare, they were quickly spotted by theFallout 76fandom and have already been the target of some harsh player criticism.

The live-service RPG revamped its old Scoreboard system with the advent of Season 16, Duel with the Devil, which ran from late March until June 12. The move saw it replace the old linear Scoreboard with a battle pass-like system spanning multiple pages and allowing players to pick and choose which rewards to redeem. TheSeason 16 Scoreboard proved to be a controversial addition toFallout 76for a variety of reasons, including the fact that it made the game significantly grindier for players wanting to grab all of its seasonal rewards.

Fallout 76 Season 17 Scoreboard Has Fewer Repeatable Rewards

TheFallout 76Season 17Scoreboard is still rooted in that same design philosophy, though it introduces a few notable changes that Bethesda appears to have made on the down-low. One of them concerns the contents of its final page, which are at first glance similar to their Season 16 counterparts, being largely focused on offering utility rewards like Perk Coins and Lunchboxes. However, it turns out that not all of these rewards can be claimed multiple times, as was the case last season. As first spotted by Reddit user tauhrashul, the bundles containing Perk Coins, Legendary Modules, and Legendary Cores are all only claimable once.

While this change could be attributed to Bethesda’s attempt to balance theFallout 76seasonal reward system, many fans chiming in on its discovery have criticized the fact that the game is being coy about it. Instead of communicating that not all final page rewards are repeatable, the game presents them like it did in Season 16. The only way to organically learn which rewards are available in infinite quantities and which are not is to reach rank 150.

Fallout 76 Players Can Now Pay To Skip Scoreboard Grind Up To Rank 150

On that note, the second Season 17 Scoreboard change recently spotted by the fandom is that it’s now possible to buy up to 150Fallout 76S.C.O.R.E. ranks. The previous version of the Scoreboard only allowed buying ranks up to 100. Following this tweak, it is now possible to pay to skip the entirety of the Season 17 grind.

While some players have been asking for this option since last season, not everyone appears thrilled with its newly uncovered addition. On the contrary, some fans are arguing that the change is further evidence testifying to the predatory nature of the battle pass-like Scoreboard system, which they theorize is only meant to boost the game’s revenue generation. For reference, S.C.O.R.E. rank skips are priced at 150 Atoms a pop, meaning that Bethesda is now offering players a chance to skip the entire Season 17 grind for the equivalent of $180.
