Summary

By no means doesDestiny 2have a shortage of Exotic armor and weapons, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t room to grow the game’s existing arsenal. One such way to do this is to bring back the rest of the old Exotics from the originalDestinythat haven’t yet come toDestiny 2.

Bringing Exotics from the originalDestinyintoDestiny 2is neither a new nor an old trend, but instead an ongoing one, considering thatDestiny 2featured a few returning Exotics as early as the game’s initial launch, with more still on the way. However, aside from the known returning Exotics that are yet to come, there’s still a long list of weapons and armor that haven’t been confirmed to return toDestiny 2for now.

Exotics Weapons and Armor from the Original Destiny That Destiny 2 Still Hasn’t Revived

Exotic Weapons

When weapons like the Raze-Lighter, Dark-Drinker, and Bolt-Caster Exotic swords were first introduced in the originalDestiny, they were a testament to what makes Exotic weapons in theDestinyuniverse feel so special. Specifically, each Exotic sword was highly unique and powerful, and they could only be earned through completing one ofDestiny’s Exotic Quests.

At this point though, these swords and many other Exotics would barely measure up to some of the latestnew legendary weapons inDestiny 2. This is a common issue with some of the old Exotic weapons from the originalDestiny. Many of these weapons haven’t made the jump toDestiny 2yet, because without majorly reworking them, they wouldn’t be nearly as powerful as they once were given the major balancing changes between the two games. As a consequence, some of these guns and swords may never end up getting revived forDestiny 2, whereas new, original weapons would understandably be a higher priority.

Not to mention, some of the latest Exotic weapons, and even certain Exotic armors inDestiny 2, already feel like successors to some of the oldDestinyExotics, except with subtle twists that only longtime fans of the franchise might recognize. For example, theDead Man’s Tale Exotic scout rifle inDestiny 2bears a strong functional and aesthetic resemblance to the No Land Beyond Exotic sniper rifle from the originalDestiny. There are several examples beyond this that, presumably, further support the idea that many of the oldDestinyExotics will never end up getting directly ported intoDestiny 2for one reason or another.

Exotic Class Items

The threeExotic class items from the originalDestinyfor each class granted players increased reputation gains for their designated faction, as well a a boost to weapon experience for specific weapon types. Beyond the other Exotic armor pieces, these were ultimately a great accessibility feature that deserves to be reintroduced to the franchise. Also, considering that class items have become a more central part of the player’s loadouts inDestiny 2, not only could the old Exotic class items be reintroduced as is, but they could also stand to be reworked to be functional Exotics, no different from Exotic armor in any other gear slot.
