With the launch of its Shadowkeep expansion,Destiny 2will be introducing anew armor 2.0 systemthat is supposed to offer more customization to players. Through the use of mods and an energy economy, players will be able to give any piece of armor any perks that they want (as long as they don’t exceed the energy cost) in order to mesh looks with utility.
But although Armor 2.0 is releasing withDestiny 2: Shadowkeepand will be available on all of thenew Shadowkeep armorthat is added with the expansion, other armor sets will support the system as well. Not all of the armor fromDestiny 2’s first two years will accommodate Armor 2.0 but a good number of the sets will. And for players that might want to chase after these sets, it’s important to know which ones are available.

Bungie also says that there will be additional armor available via world drops, but the developer does not say what form those might take on. World drops are also going to be a new way to boost one’s power level, asDestiny 2revamps the power level climb.
It’s important to note that only armor acquired after the release date ofDestiny 2: Shadowkeepwill support the Armor 2.0 system. So if players that are thinking they want to get a headstart and acquire these armor sets now, unfortunately they will not changeover once Shadowkeep is available.
That being said,Destiny 2players can prepare to grab these armor sets by stockpiling materials for the Destination Vendors or Tokens for the Crucible and Vanguard representatives. Those that want theEscalation Protocol armorcan start decrypting keys and getting those ready for October as well.
What’s unique about Armor 2.0 is that once players have acquired a specific mod with a perk they like, they can apply that mod to any piece of armor. It can be a helmet from the Leviathan raid or a helmet from the Black Armory forge. The only static element on the armor is the elemental energy associated with it, which also influences some of theperks like weapon reload speed.
Still, it seems like there is going to be a lot of choices available to players and an actual reason to complete old content to try and get gear. For a while now the Leviathan raids haven’t offered a reason for players to complete them other than nostalgia or boredom.
