The Empyrean are extremely powerful beings inElden Ringthat have the capability of ascending to godhood. While there are numerous Empyreans inElden Ring, including Ranni the Witch, arguably the most famous is Malenia given she is the only one that players fight in head-to-head combat. Despite her fearsome reputation as the most difficult encounter in the game, Malenia suggests that her brother is even stronger.

Miquella does not appear as a boss fight inElden Ring, but fans can catch a glimpse of the most powerful Empyrean in his cocoon form during anencounter with Mohg, Lord of Blood. While this brief appearance gives players little to go on in terms of Miquella’s abilities and potential power level, there’s enough information throughout the title to piece together an idea of how a fight against Miquella would manifest.

A Fight Against Miquella Would Be Different from Malenia

Theboss fight against Maleniahas achieved near-legendary status amongElden Ringplayers. Not only is she exceptionally quick with wide-sweeping combinations, she also hits about as hard as any encounter in the game. Still, the battle against Malenia is a purely physical encounter. It requires tight dodges and staggering counters, but is relatively straightforward. Malenia describes her brother as the most fearsome Empyrean, and lore suggests that a boss encounter with Miquella would manifest in a drastically different way.

Taking into consideration all thelore surrounding Miquella, it’s likely his boss encounter would be a more cerebral affair. A piece of cut content from the game suggests that if Miquella were able to ascend to godhood, he would take the form of St. Trina. The Sword of St. Trina is capable of inflicting a heavy sleep effect on an enemy, which highlights a potential mechanic in this hypothetical matchup against Miquella.

Miquella Cocoon Mohg Lord of Blood Fight Player

Miquella is best known for creating unalloyed gold, an item that - in the form of Miquella’s Needle - is capable of suppressing the Flame of Frenzy. Unalloyed gold is also one of the few substances known to cure Scarlet Rot. Based on Miquella’s association with status effects and the removal thereof, it’s not a stretch to assume that a fight against Miquella would be one that would involve plenty of effects against the player.

Mohg’s Influence Could Affect Miquella in a Boss Fight

However, one should also consider Mohg’s influence given the only instance that players encounter ofMiquella is within a gigantic cocoonin Mohg’s arena. It seems plausible that Mohg’s attempts to aid Miquella’s ascension have had some effect on Miquella’s physical form, perhaps infusing Miquella with his brand of blood magic, suggesting another possible avenue for a boss encounter to take.

The arm that emerges from the cocoon in this arena suggests thatMiquella could be a terrifying encounter. His vascular arm suggests something about Mohg’s blood magic, and Miquella himself appears to have grown to a colossal size.Elden Ring’s player character is around average height for humans, which is roughly the size of Miquella’s exposed forearm. Miquella’s sister Malenia, who is a few feet taller than the player, would still be shorter than Miquella’s arm. If players fought him in this form, it would cement Miquella as one of the largest bosses inElden Ring, likely only outclassed by the Fire Giant and the Elden Beast itself.
