Apparently feeling likeElden Ringdidn’t already have enough disturbing creatures wandering through the dreamlike realm of the Lands Between, one player used the game’s powerful character creator to design a hilarious and horrifying hybrid ofGod of War’s Kratos and theSuper Mario Bros.’ nemesis, Waluigi. Although many players of FromSoftware’s critically acclaimed action RPG have already shown how versatileElden Ring’s character creation system can be, this uniquely inspired mashup may be one of the game’s most bizarre custom characters yet.
Released for PC and consoles in early 2022,Elden Ringtakes the melancholic settings and tough-but-fair combat that have become FromSoftware’s trademarks and transports them to an open world for the first time. Attracting an audience that extended far beyond the developer’s often-diehard fanbase and bringing millions of new players into the fold,Elden Ringshowed that it’s possible to create a Soulslike game that can still be played and enjoyed by a general audience. In addition to receiving praise from gamers and critics for its gorgeous visuals and memorable bosses,Elden Ring’s character creatorhas been lauded for the freedom it gives players to design nearly anything they can imagine.

In a new post on r/Eldenring that likely left some players wondering ifElden Ring’s character creator maybe gives players a bit too much freedom, Redditor TheEldenCasual showed off their bizarre mashup of Kratos and Waluigi. Titling their post “I made a mistake,” TheEldenCasual’s screenshots showed a created character sporting Waluigi’s jutting, angular chin and nose, but with the musculature and pale white complexion ofGod of War’s prickly protagonist, Kratos. This isn’t the first time that Luigi’s devious doppelganger has found himself mixed up with another franchise, though, with another gamercombining Waluigi and the Pokemon Lugiawith equally hilarious results last year.
Redditors responding to TheEldenCasual’s hilariously named “The God of Wah!” seemed to love the unfortunate-looking creation, with one response stating, “You see a mistake…I see a masterpiece.” Another Redditor replied that the only mistake TheEldenCasual had made was not sharing a screenshot of the slider values used to create the hilarious hybrid. Other responses were focused less on the impressively weird character creation, instead expressing astonishment at the amount of time required to farm the Magma Blades that are used to recreateKratos’ iconic weapons, the Blades of Chaos.
With his devious grin and comically exaggerated facial features, this leering lovechild of Kratos and Waluigi may just be one of the strangestElden Ringcreated characters yet. And while it may look out of place in The Lands Between, “The God of Wah!” would probably fit right in at aWaluigi-themed bachelorette party.
