As pointed out by TrueAchievements, EA has confirmed thatNHL 20will shut down on July 24, 2025. At that point,NHL 20’s online features will no longer be accessible, regardless if one is playing on PlayStation or Xbox. Previously, EA shut downNHL 19, and before that,NHL 21was removed from the EA Play lineup. Anyone that wants to playNHL 20’s online modes will want to act fast, as those modes and everything associated with them will cease to exist come September 16, though the game will still be playable in an offline capacity at least.
EA Games Shutting Down This Year
NHL 20is just the latest EA game confirmed to be shutting down.Seven EA games are shutting down on March 21, including fiveF1games,Micromachines World Series, and the multiplayer third-person shooterRocket Arena. April will seeKim Kardashian HollywoodandMadden NFL 20shut down, while May 24 will be the last day that EA fans can enjoy the online features found inEA Sports MLB Tap Sport Baseball 2022and2023, as well asF1 Mobile RacingandLord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth.Super Mega Baseball 2is shutting down on July 24.NHL 20is currently the farthest-out when it comes to EA shutdowns, but it’s entirely possible that more games will be added to the list as the year goes on.
It’s definitely a bummer that these EA games are being shut down, but the bright side is fans have plenty of advanced notice and can prioritize the games being shut down if they care to do so. As far as NHL games go,NHL 24is available now, and its online features should remain available for at least a few years.
