With the launch ofAnthemforthcoming, the ongoing support ofStar Wars: The Old Republic, and the premise of other IPs such asDragon AgeandMass Effect, many BioWare fans may be questioning whetherwe will ever getKnights of the Old Republic 3. After all, the firstKnights of the Old Republicand its sequel were well-received by fans, with the legacy of Revan being a constant point of discussion in theStar Warsfandom today.
Although it may be one of the most desired follow-ups in gaming history, fans shouldn’t hold their breath. In a recent interview, BioWare general manager Casey Hudson was asked if the studio would ever continue itsStar Warsseries beyondThe Old Republic, but he made it clear that other projects, such asAnthem, took priority.

Hudson stated that the majority of BioWare was making sureAnthemwas ready for launch, stating it was “super important” the company got it right for its fans, but it did have smaller groups working on other projects. Namely, he had teams working on what the nextDragon Agewill look like, and teams supportingThe Old Republic. He further implied that doing anotherStar Warsgame right would require the majority of the studio, even one as large as BioWare.
In the same interview, Hudson expressed interest in the nextDragon AgeandMass Effect, calling the latter franchise his “baby.” While he stopped short of revealing what was next for BioWare, it won’t likely be aStar Warsgame with the number of projects the studio has going on. For those wanting to play more BioWare titles, it’s worth mentioningthe studio is interesting in developing smaller games, which may be another indicator thatStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 3isn’t in the works.
While there will always be gamers clamoring for a follow-up to Revan’s legacy, it seemsAnthemis the focus for now, and another BioWare IP may follow suit. Considering thatAnthem’send-game content is important to BioWare, it’s likely to get a lot of post-launch support, meaning BioWare may not have the resources to devote to anotherStar Warsgame any time soon.
