All six of the Chase Uniques have dropped inDiablo 4, as a lucky German player managed to get their hands on the first Melted Heart of Selig in the world. There’s been plenty of discourse concerningthe wayDiablo 4handles ultra-rare Uniques, with some fans preferring the rarity, while others thinking the items should be more accessible. The fine line thatDiablo 4threads in this regard is that endgame builds don’t rely on any of the six Uniques to function. While they are gamechangers that allow characters to transcend their limits, Helltides and Nightmare Dungeons can be tackled just fine with standard Uniques and Legendaries.
Harlequin Crest was thefirst ultra-rare Unique inDiablo 4that dropped on June 9, and over the course of the next three weeks (a full month ofDiablo 4), eight players in total managed to obtain one of these exclusive pieces of gear. The community bore witness to the drop of an Andariel’s Visage, The Grandfather, two Harlequin Crests, two Doombringers, a Ring of the Starless Skies, and two Melted Hearts of Selig.

Though it was reported that a Necromancer from China was the first player in the world to obtain a Melted Heart of Selig in the Blind Burrows dungeon on June 29, there was a German player who slipped underneath the radar and got lucky the day before. Posted rather innocently on theDiablo 4subreddit on June 28, chabbaworkie asked for advice on how to make use of a Melted Heart of Selig, remaining completely oblivious to its rarity or status in the community.
Considering the recent string of ultra-rare Uniques that dropped after thenewDiablo 4patch, many players have openly speculated that Blizzard Entertainment raised the drop rate in an undocumented change. Given the nature of seasonal content inDiablo 4, the chase will no doubt resume in earnest when Season 1 launches in mid-July. With no benefits provided by Early Access this time around, allDiablo 4players competing for World First will start off on equal footing – whether it’s for Level 100, defeating the Pinnacle Boss, or obtaining one of the six Uniques.
Diablo 4has been a major success for Blizzard, and though it has its fair share of complaints and criticisms, they come from passionate community that wants the game to be even better. Withtwo expansions already announced forDiablo 4, the developers will have plenty of time to build on the foundation, and though only six Uniques stand in a tier of their own for now, it wouldn’t be surprising if that number grew in the Seasons to come.
Diablo 4is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
