Blizzard has revealed the details ofDiablo 4’s Lunar Awakening event. The time-limitedDiablo 4event will commemorate the Chinese Lunar New Year, and allow players to use Lunar Shrines to gain special rewards.
Diablo 4’s Season of the Constructrecently started on January 23. Instead of pitting players against vampires like the previous Season of Blood,Diablo 4’s third season has them fighting against the demon Malphas. Among its new content, the season comes with exclusive items, special dungeons called Vaults, and a robot companion called Seneschal. The season barely started, but Blizzard also announced its first time-limited event.
The Lunar Awakening event will happen between February 6 and 20 and can be accessed by both Seasonal and Eternal characters. During this time,Diablo 4players can find special Lunar Shrines in both dungeons and the outside world, which will be infused with the magic of the Ancients. These shrines will give players a 50% boost in XP and 30% in speed, as well as other unique bonuses in some cases, such as special attacks or damage reflection. Essentially, these shrines will be useful tospeed up progression inDiablo 4, and gamers may collect Ancestor’s Favor while using them, which can later be traded for exclusive cosmetics.
How Will Diablo 4’s Lunar Awakening Event Work?
To gain the rewards of the time-limited event, players should travel toKed Bardu in the Dry Steppes map. There, they can meet Ying-Yue, the leader of the Lunar Night Market, who will exchange the Ancestor’s Favor collected by the player for prizes that can only be acquired during the event.
Diablo 4’s Season 3 is proving to be controversial, and the Lunar Awakening event could be a good addition to make it more interesting. While the overall sentiment aroundDiablo 4is much more positive than it was at release, not all gamers are happy with Season of the Construct. Severalplayers are complaining aboutDiablo 4’s new Vaults, saying that these season-specific dungeons are annoying due to their traps, which are often described as being deadly and too difficult to avoid.
Recently, Blizzard nerfed a very difficult Season 3 boss after players complained about difficulty.
