A group of Destiny superfans forge a life size replica of the Raze-Lighter, the new exotic solar sword added to the game with The Taken King expansion.

While the release ofDestiny: The Taken King, thefirst major expansionfor Bungie’s hugely successful first person shooter, added plenty of new content to the mix for players to enjoy, it didn’t necessarily change the core experience that much. By and large, the gunplay/gameplay ofDestinywas well preserved in its second year, save for one new addition: swords.

Since the launch ofDestinyback in September 2014, gamers had been asking Bungie to expand upon the Sword of Crota mission included in the base game, and finally the developer agreed.Swordsare now as much a part ofDestiny’s core gameplay as guns, melee attacks, and supers. In fact, swords have opened up new opportunities for players, includingtraversal optionsand ways to render enemy attacks moot.

Destiny Sword Replica

That’s all to say that swords have become a big part of theDestinyexperience and the new weapons have their fair share of fans. So much so, in fact, that one group of fans decided to make a life size replica of the Raze-Lighter, the solar sword added inDestiny: The Taken King.

The below image of the Raze Lighter comes by way of the Bungie Community Creations page, which highlights some of the most impressive fan creations based aroundDestiny. The page has brought us everything from detailed pencil drawings toreplicas of popularDestinyguns. 3D Printing, for example, has helped fans recreate some of their favoriteDestinyweapons with some snazzy new tech…and some expensive materials as well.

However, this sword replica is taking the more traditional route of forging, which is sure to help its authenticity. It also makes the replica into a real weapon, sure, but we hope that the fan who commissioned or who made the sword keeps it in a nice display case.

No matter how you might feel aboutDestinyas a game, it’s hard to deny that the fan base surrounding the experience is a fervent one. Heck, even as fanscomplain over a lack of contentthey continue to log regular (oftentimes daily) hours online. After all, who would take the time to forge a replica sword for a game they only “sort of enjoyed.”

Would you like to own aDestinysword replica? Which weapon would you most like a replica of?
