With the second expansion ofDestiny 2almost upon us, Bungie hosted a live-stream to give players a look at the upcoming DLCWarmind. TakingDestinyplayers back to Mars, Warmind will introduce fans to the Hunter Gunslinger Ana Bray and will once again see them cross paths with the Warmind Rasputin, a highly advanced artificial intelligence.
Following a brief discussion with developers from both Bungie and Vicarious Visions, Bungie community manager Deej debuted theDestiny 2Warmind cinematic prologue trailer. The trailer serves as an introduction to Ana Bray and sees her attempting to infiltrate a facility on Mars built by her family’s company, Clovis Bray, during the Golden Age. As Bray explains the facility is the birthplace of the most powerful weapon in the solar system, Rasputin himself.
As detailed during the live stream, Ana Bray will be the main NPC for the newWarmindcontent, serving as a guide and as the vendor for the new Martian location. As the campaign progresses, fans will seek to uncover the mysteries around the Warmind Rasputin and learn more about the chain of events set in motion by his reawakening.
As previously mentioned the new expansion takes place in Hellas Basin on Mars, where a Clovis Bray facility has been revealed due to the melting of the polar ice caps. Unfortunately for Ana Bray and our Guardians, Clovis Bray wasn’t the only thing to emerge from the ice asWarmindintroduces us to a new form of Hive. Not only that but these frozen Hive seem to be following someone’s lead as the cinematic also teases a new big bad, seen facing down Bray towards the end.
The cinematic wasn’t the only cool feature to be shown on the livestream today, as Bungie confirmedthe new horde modecalled the Hive Escalation Protocol, a seven round open event with unique rewards. Each round will get progressively harder (and the developers stress how hard they can get) with the seventh round of each event being one of five bosses that rotate on a weekly basis. Think of the event much like the Court Of Oryx in the originalDestiny.
HopefullyWarmindcan serve to undo some of the complaints fans leveled at the first expansion, Curse of Osiris. Many fans thought the DLC failed to deliver in regards to the content, both in terms of gamplay and storyline. With that said, Bungie seems determined to right the wrongs of the past and deliver something that not onlyfixes what was brokenbut also give players something new and exciting.
Destiny 2and its Curse of Osiris expansion are available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Warmind launches June 24, 2025.
