Bungie is moving forward withDestiny 2’s scheduled maintenance despite ongoing server issues. Servers will be going offline for a short period of time as Bungie releasesDestiny 2hotfix 7.0.0.3, the second half of scheduled maintenance that has already led to substantial server issues and downtime. Exactly what the 7.0.0.3 hotfix forDestiny 2is intended to address isn’t clear, but there are certainly plenty of bugs surrounding theLightfallexpansion’s launch that need to be addressed. The first half ofBungie’s planned server maintenanceoccurred on Wednesday. It was planned to be background maintenance, meaning that if everything went correctlyDestiny 2players would never have known server maintenance was being done. Unfortunately, things did go awry.Destiny 2servers were taken offline for around four hours on Wednesday evening. Players were experiencing error codes, login issues, and login queues. However, Bungie confirmed background maintenance was completed successfully, setting up today’s hotfix.RELATED:Destiny 2 Finally Getting an All-Black Shader, but There’s a CatchThe soon-to-arriveDestiny 2server maintenance will take the multiplayer game’s servers down soon, though there’s conflicting information regarding how long it will last. At the very least, server downtime will be starting at 8:45 AM PT/11:45 AM ET. Downtime will either last 15 or 135 minutes, though it’s possible thatDestiny 2will be inaccessiblefor longer if things go wrong. Bungie’s website says servers will be back online after 15 minutes, while its Twitter account says downtime will last a bit over two hours.

WhileDestiny 2itself should only be down for at most 2 hours and 15 minutes, server maintenance will be impacting other services in addition to the game for a longer window. Starting at 8:00 AM PT/11:00 AM ET, services including the Bungie website, theDestiny 2 Companionapp, third-party apps, and the Bungie Store will be unavailable. The service downtime will last either 2 hours or 4 hours, depending on whether the Bungie website or Twitter account is correct.

Bungie does note that hotfix 7.0.0.3 will require an update. The size of the update hasn’t been confirmed. Bungie warns console players that they may need to restart their console in order to prompt the update and makeDestiny 2playable again. It should be quick to download, at least, since it’s just a hotfix and not a full patch.

The contents of hotfix 7.0.0.3 have yet to be published but should be available onceDestiny 2’s server maintenance is complete. If everything goes as planned,Destiny 2players will only need to take a brief break and will then be able tojump back into theLightfallaction. Stay tuned for further information later today.

Destiny 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
